2 Acts 20:25-31 25 “And now, behold, I know that all of you, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, will no longer see my face. 26 Therefore, I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God. 28 Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. 29 I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. 31 Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears.

4 Live with a resolve to live in the will of God (Acts 20:13-16)
How can we live a life without regret? Live with a resolve to live in the will of God (Acts 20:13-16) Live with a resolve to live by the Word of God (Acts 20:17-24) Live with a resolve to do the work of God (Acts 20:25-38)

5 ACTS 20:24 3 This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. 4 I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do.

6 If we would resolve to do the work of God, then we must…
Have the right pastoral expectations (Acts 20:25-31) Have the right personal expectations (Acts 20:17-24) Have the right public expectations (Acts 20:25-38)

7 III. If we would resolve to do the work of God, then we must…
Have the right pastoral expectations (25-31) Shepherding involves feeding (25-27) 25 And now, behold, I know that all of you, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, will no longer see my face. 26 Therefore, I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.

8 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
HOSEA 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

9 EZEKIEL 34:2 Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy and say to those shepherds, 'Thus says the Lord God, "Woe, shepherds of Israel who have been feeding themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flock?

10 III. If we would resolve to do the work of God, then we must…
Have the right pastoral expectations (25-31) Shepherding involves feeding (25-27) Shepherding involves leading (28) Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

11 JOHN Chrysostom “The minister's shortcoming simply cannot be concealed. Even the most trivial soon get known...However trifling their offenses, these little things seem great to others, since everyone measures sin, not by the size of the offense, but by the standing of the sinner.”

12 ACTS 20:28 Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

13 HEBREWS 13:7 Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith. TITUS 2:15 These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

14 ACTS 20:28 Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. Who “made” church leaders? Who’s church is it? Why does the church exist?

15 III. If we would resolve to do the work of God, then we must…
Have the right pastoral expectations (25-31) Shepherding involves feeding (25-27) Shepherding involves leading(28) Shepherding involves heeding(29-31) 29 I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. 31 Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears.

16 MATTHEW 7:15-17 15 Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? 17 So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.

17 2 PETER 2:1 “But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.”

18 ACTS 20:29-30 29 I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

19 1 TIMOTHY 1:3 As I urged you upon my departure for Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines,

20 1 TIMOTHY 1:18-20 18 This command I entrust to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight, 19 keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. 20 Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan, so that they will be taught not to blaspheme.

21 2 TIMOTHY 1:15 You are aware of the fact that all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.

22 2 TIMOTHY 2:16-17 “Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus.”

23 “But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”
REVELATION 2:4 “But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”
