To 160 th Ave Church of Christ

FINAL WORDS Moses – be strong and courageous, enter the land (Deut. 31:7). Jesus- – Go therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the father, son, and holy spirit (Matt. 20:19). Paul- – I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race (2 Tim. 4:7).

PAUL’S FAREWELL ACTS 20:18-38

Paul’s Charge Last words, the greatest words that could be said – Family member – Jesus’ disciples: Go and make disciples – Paul to elders: Guard the flock Being a good shepherd – Jesus the good shepherd (John 10) – Leaving the 99. (Matt 18) Be on the alert! (vs. 37) Vs. 28 Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

Paul’s Warning Warnings may not seem encouraging, but are very important in last words! Warnings provide preparation. Paul gives warnings in both letters to Timothy – 1 Tim. 4:1-3 – 2 Tim. 3:1-7 28 Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock…29 I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

Paul’s Incredible Claims: In teaching (Acts 20:18-21, 26-27, 31) He Taught everybody – “innocent of the blood of all men” Went door to door Taught Jew and greek – “You never mentioned Him to me” He Taught everything – He did not “shrink from declaring to them anything that was profitable” – He “declared the whole counsel of God.” – “innocent of the blood of all men.” Can we make these Claims?

Paul’s Incredible Claims: Righteousness in Character (Acts 20:18-19, 33-35) He did the Right thing with the right motives – Not for personal glory – Not for monetary gain – Did it for God and the brethren

Paul’s Incredible Claims: Confidence in the Difficult Ahead (Acts 20:22-24) Affliction awaits, he does not consider his life dear to him, that he might finish the course. Can we make this claim: “I just want to fulfill my purpose to God.”
