He was writing and playing folk music, recognized for anti-war and protest songs.
His music genre includes folk, blues, gospel, country, rock and roll, jazz, rockabilly, even swing.

5. Going Electric
July 25, 1965, headlining for the Newport Folk Festival.
He went electric with the Butterfield blues band.

6. A New Direction
Fans began to boo him regularly at his performances, for going electric.
His electric song “Like A Rolling Stone“ created a great amount of controversy.
Made it to number one on the billboard charts, one year later.

Playing and performing with many musicians he discovers Levon and the Hawks.

Recorded “Knockin on Heavens Door” for the film, and it is considered one of the most enduring American rock anthems.
