Counting from the issue date of your ARC, you are qualified to join NHI if you have stayed in Taiwan for 6 months without departing.
Within this 6 month period, you are only allowed to leave Taiwan once for less than 30 days.
The fee for the NHI is 749 NTD per month. Payments will be collected on a six months basis (4,494 NTD). This amount will be listed on the tuition fee payment form.

6. Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) Additional Information
To apply for ARC extension, students must complete the registration at
the university and submit the student ID or proof of registration along with
other required documents. The length of validity will be extended
from October 1 to September 30 next year.
Master’s and Ph.D. students please note: If the oral defense exam for your
thesis is scheduled in July, it is possible that you will not receive your diploma
before July 31. In this case, please contact your department office before
July 15 to make necessary arrangements for the extension of your ARC.
