1 Grace! Still Amazed? (Part 2)

2 Romans 11:6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.

3 Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; ’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home.

4 Living for Christ means that there are dangers, toils and snares!

5 Some, because we have an enemy

6 1 Peter 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert
1 Peter 5:8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

7 2 Timothy 2:24-26 The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance

8 leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

9 Some, because we have undisciplined desires

10 1 Timothy 6:9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction.

11 James 4:1–4 What causes fights and quarrels among you
James 4:1–4 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.

12 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God?

13 Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

14 Galatians 6:9 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.

15 Some, simply because this isn’t heaven and life has natural consequences and difficulties.

16 1 Peter 3:17–18 Remember, it is better to suffer for doing good, if that is what God wants, than to suffer for doing wrong! Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.

17 By God’s grace I will stand strong.

18 Philippians 1:6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

19 Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

20 READ (God’s word).

21 PRAY

22 Hebrews 4:16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

23 FORGIVE

24 Hebrews 12:15 See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled;

25 When we’ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we’d first begun.

26 Eternity never really gets ‘started’ at all.

27 In Heaven, praise will be easy.

28 Revelation 5:9 And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

29 Revelation 15:3 And they sang the song of Moses, the bond-servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, “Great and marvelous are Your works, O Lord God, the Almighty; Righteous and true are Your ways, King of the nations!

30 Praise takes attention, concentration and effort.

31 Ephesians 5:19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;
