3 What do we want ALNS students to be?
We want a curriculum that enables them to become; Successful Learners Responsible Citizens Confident Individuals This underpins everything we do.

4 What are the aims of the Personal Development Curriculum at ALNS?
A curriculum that isn’t just about grades, but about educating the whole child. A curriculum that enables our students to; discover themselves, their beliefs and values and their world. know and understand current affairs and have the confidence to form their own opinions and discuss them respectfully with their peers. become skilful thinkers so they are better prepared for life in the 21st century. be active citizens in our democratic society. develop socially, morally, spiritually and culturally.

Threaded within all curriculum areas Personal Development Course - Year 10 Aspiring Futures Course (PSHEE) PD Days Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award

6 Aspiring Futures (PSHEE)
Sessions are delivered by the tutors Compliments the PD Course & PD Days Course includes; Learning to Learn (L2L) Growth Mind-set etc Outside speakers for crime, drug and alcohol addiction, driver safety, etc. Government and Democracy Personal Finance Peer mentoring Community & Charity projects Careers (including work experience) Academic Coaching

7 PD Days 12 PD days in the year.
All students off timetable working on themed days. Year 11 – subject specific days and Paris. Development of skills and knowledge in areas they don’t normally have the chance to explore. Linked to the aims of our curriculum.

8 Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Internationally recognised award for young people Most highly regarded young persons award by employers and universities Personal Development programme aimed to challenge young people New and different opportunities Hugely rewarding 25 Year 10 students currently completing.
