4 Achieving Academic Success: Student Success Plan
Start in NR324/329- Submission due in NR325/330 Let’s review what the Individualized Student Success Plan looks like. After all the students in your class have completed the Academic Assessment #1 your results will be enabled in the ATI system. Your results on the Academic Assessment #1 will guide which level of the Student Success Plan you will engage in. The ISSP is geared towards promoting your academic success. After completion of the AA#1 if your overall performance aligns with: Proficiency Level is a Level 2 or 3, you will…….(See the ISSP) If your Proficiency Level is a Level 1, you will……(See the ISSP) If your Proficiency Level is Below Level1, you will……(See the ISSP) You will begin your individualized student success plan while you are in NR324/NR329. As soon as you are able to access your results you will be able to start participating in the active re-learning process related to your noted areas of opportunity for growth or improvement. What an opportunity this is or you! This will allow you to actively review specific areas to increase your knowledge at this point in the curriculum, versus continuing to progress through the program and at the end of the program have to go back and review all the content from the beginning to the end of the program. Your Individualized Student Success Plan work will be submitted in NR325/NR330 by the due date published by your campus. Again, we encourage you to begin this work during NR-324/329 with submission during NR-325/330 Now, let’s take a look at how you can access your results and resources to participate in the Individualized Student Success Plan!

5 Let’s Take a Look at Where You Can Find Your Results
First you will log into the ATI website at and sign in your student account. On your student homepage you will see a tab titled My Results….you will click the tab and all your results will populate. You will note on this screenshot the AA#1 (Fundamentals Assessment) is listed under Proctored Assessments. To download your Individual ATI Transcript you will click on the download icon.

6 Where Do I Locate My Individual Performance Profile
By clicking the assessment title hyperlink under My Results it will take you to your assessments Individual Performance Profile. Important points about this profile. You can review your individual results, access your focused review by clicking the begin or continue icon and also download a copy of the assessment report by clicking the download report icon. Let’s see what that report looks like on the next slide

7 What Does My Assessment Report Look Like
Your report will pop up as a PDF. Please make sure you have enabled the pop up blockers for the ATI testing.com website or you will not see anything! You can save your report, print it, or just visually review it on the screen. I’d like to draw to your attention to where you can find your overall score and what it means. You will receive an Adjusted Individualized Total Score and also an ATI Proficiency Level on your performance related to the Academic Assessment results. The Proficiency Level will either be Proficiency Level 3, 2, 1 or Below Level 1. Your proficiency level is what will align with the Individualized Student Success Plan requirements discussed on a previous slide and identify your required work for submission in NR325/NR330 These classifications were developed as the result of a national standard setting study conducted by ATI, involving nurse educator content experts from across the U.S. The classifications apply only to individual scores, and not to groups scores. Level 3 - Scores meeting the Proficiency Level 3 standard may be considered to exceed most expectations for performance in this content area. When we look at scores aligning with this level the content expert panel indicates a student as likely to exceed NCLEX-RN® standards in this content area. Our ATI partners do advise these students to engage in continuous focused review to maintain and improve their knowledge of this content. Level 2 - Scores meeting the Proficiency Level 2 standard may be considered to exceed minimum expectations for performance in this content area. Scores at this level were judged by the content expert panel to indicate a student as fairly certain to meet NCLEX-RN® standards in this content area. Our partners at ATI advise these students to engage in continuous focused review in order to improve their knowledge of this content. Level 1 - Scores meeting the Proficiency Level 1 standard may be considered to meet the absolute minimum expectations for performance in this content area. Scores at this level were judged by the content expert panel to indicate a student as likely to just meet NCLEX-RN® standards in this content area. Our ATI partners advise these students to develop and complete a rigorous plan of focused review in order to achieve a greater understanding of this content. Below Level 1 – Scores below the Proficiency Level 1 standard can be considered below minimum expectations and may be indicative of significant risk in this content area. Our partners at ATI strongly advises these students to develop and complete an intensive plan for focused review and remediation, including the use of ATI materials, textbooks, class notes, reference materials, and assistance from nurse educators- this include your on-campus faculty and CAS team. You might ask….What is included in an Individual Performance Profile? The profile was shared on a previous screen but you will also have this information on your reports. An Individual Performance Profile, which includes the Major Content Areas and the following data. ◯◯ Adjusted Individual Score (% correct) ◯◯ ATI- Proficiency Level ◯◯ National and Program Means and Percentile Rank ◯◯ Topics to Review per NCLEX Client Need Categories ◯◯ Individual Scores (% correct) within an outcome Thinking Skills: Foundational Thinking and Clinical Judgment/Critical Thinking Nursing Process Priority Setting QSEN Competencies BSN Essentials NLN Competencies You will also see you Individual Performance in the Major Content Areas- this aligns with the NCLEX-RN Categories and Sub-Categories.

8 Your Roadmap to SUCCESS
As you scroll down through your individual report you will also have the opportunity to review your performance related to several outcome areas; including your performance on the Topics To Review. This provides you with critical information as you move forward through the program. This information will provide you with a list of NCLEX-RN Categories, Sub-Categories, Sub-topics and content topics you unsuccessfully answered on the Academic Assessment. This will provide you with an outline of content you need to actively connect back to, with a goal of increasing your knowledge so you will be able to apply it in the future on NCLEX-RN style questions and in the client care settings. You will notice next to each Topic to Review listed on your report you will see ATI has provided you with information aligning with a Review Module (RM) and/or an Active Learning Template. We will discuss these later in the presentation.

9 As you continue to scroll down through your report you will continue to see outcome information. This page shows you three areas scored on your report: Foundational versus Critical Thinking/Clinical Judgment, Priority Setting, the Nursing Process and QSEN Competencies. Please take an opportunity to review your individual results, this will show you valuable information about your performance as it aligns with the NCLEX-RN Test Plan! This is an essential component of promoting your success academically and on the NCLEX-RN. This will guide your connection back to areas you need to review to increase your success now and in the future; that is what the Chamberlain Cares Student Success Model it is all about…YOUR Individual SUCCESS!

17 My Active Learning Templates: Concept Connection
Based on your Proficiency level from Academic Assessment #1, you will be required to complete a certain number of active learning templates. These templates will promote concept connection; promoting metacognition and a higher level of thinking process. If you scored a Proficiency Level 3 or 2- you will be required to complete 1- Basic Concept and 1- Systems Disorder Active Learning Templates as part of your Individualized Student Success Plan. If you scored a Proficiency Level 1- you will be required to complete 2- Basic Concept and 1- Systems Disorder Active Learning Templates. If you scored a Proficiency Below Level 1- you will be required to complete 2- Basic Concept and 2- Systems Disorder Active Learning Templates. There will be some hyperlinked active learning templates inside your focused review. Let’s look at a couple of examples

18 Let’s Look at a Couple of Samples….
Handwritten for Submission As discussed previously, the number of active learning templates you will be required to complete as part of your Individualized Student Success Plan is determined by your proficiency level on the Academic Assessment #1-please see the Student Success Plan for specific details. Here is an example of a Systems Disorder and Basic Concept Active Learning Template. It is important for you to understand the Active Learning Templates must be handwritten when turned in for assignment completion.

19 Sample of 3 Critical Points-
Topic: Delegation Nurses can delegate only tasks appropriate for the skill and education level of the nurse who is receiving the assignment. RNs cannot delegate the nursing process, client education, or tasks that require nursing judgment to LPNs or AP. Use the five rights of delegation to decide: Right task, right person, right circumstance, right communication, and right supervision/evaluation. The last component of the Individualized Student Success Plan we need to review is the 3 critical components for each topic to review. No matter which proficiency level you scored, you are required to identify Three Critical Points for each Topic to Review missed on the Academic Assessment. Lets look at a student sample of Topics to Review. You will locate each topic missed; lets look at the red arrows pointing to the topics the student would identify 3 critical components for. Click for Animation- Lets look at a sample of 3 Critical Points for the Topic Delegation- What would be 3 critical components the nurse would need to have an understanding to apply towards delegation in the future? The goal is to increase the knowledge and understanding of the topic to apply in the future on another NCLEX-RN style question and answer it successfully!

20 Sample of 3 Critical Points- Topic: Restraints
Handwritten for Submission Seclusion and/or restraints should be ordered for the shortest duration necessary and only if less restrictive measures are not sufficient. It is for the physical protection of the client or the protection of other clients or staff. Seclusion and/or restraint must never be used for the following: Convenience of the staff, Punishment for the client, Clients who are extremely physically or mentally unstable, Clients who cannot tolerate the decreased stimulation of a seclusion room The prescription must include the reason for the restraint, the type of restraint, the location of the restraint, how long the restraint may be used, and the type of behaviors demonstrated by the client that warrant use of the restraint. Here is another example of 3 critical points for the topic restraints. It is important for you to remember in addition to the Active Learning Templates, the 3 critical points for each topic to review must be handwritten when turned in for successful completion of your Individualized Student Success Plan.
