Process Improvement Timing During an Implementation During an Upgrade Analysis What is going right and what needs improvement? If it’s not broken don’t fix it - not everything needs to be “fixed” Focus on the greatest need or impact first Design & Build Spend time on a quality design and review carefully in your teams Measure twice and cut once – re-doing development work can be costly Always spend more time testing (no one tests enough) The outline below may be useful in developing a Member Showcase presentation for use during a chapter meeting.   Introduce yourself Provide an Overview of Company Primary business activity Industry Locations # of Employees Revenue size (if appropriate) Introduce others from your company in attendance, and including yourself, review Job roles How long with company How long using Dynamics Other interesting items Discuss how your company is using Dynamics How many users How long What version(s) What segments and for what purposes ISV products used/customizations Share a “case study” from your experience regarding your company’s use of Dynamics Pick a project/initiative. 24 Project Accounting Overview – What is this module used for?
Microsoft Dynamics GP provides the tools organizations need to effectively manage project performance while ensuring budgets are met and billing is both accurate and timely. With Microsoft Project Accounting, cash flow is improved and costs are better managed. Full integration among modules streamlines invoicing, time and expense reporting approvals, and reporting, helping you drive strategic direction.

25 Project Accounting Overview – Should we consider using Project Accounting?
Some of the questions you might ask when trying to decide whether Project Accounting is needed include: Do you need to post employees’ time against projects? Do you need to post employee expenses against projects? Do you need flexibility in billing for the projects? Do you take retainers and apply those to work as it’s performed? Do you need to track WIP?

26 Project Accounting Overview – Advantages of Project Accounting
Each project can be set up as Time and Materials, Fixed Fee or Cost Plus GL accounting can be based on combinations of factors and can be masked for specific projects.  For instance, if you have a department segment in your chart of accounts, costs can grab the main account segment from the setup of a cost category (budget line item) but grab the department segment from the project itself. Costs can have a set overhead percentage added automatically for some or all costs Costs can have a markup percentage added automatically for billing purposes or can be billed at a specific unit price.  Other choices are also available. You do not have to bill out for a project.  You can use PA or a specific project only to accumulate costs if you wish. PA interfaces directly with Purchase Order Processing (POP), flowing non- inventory costs directly into the project upon receiving.
