We are so pleased to have you with us this evening. We are going to be talking about Title I and what that means for Waycross Middle School, our students and our parents.

2. Questions and statements to be discussed in this presentation:
What is a Title I school? How does WCHS spend Title I money? How does WCHS participate in the Title I program? Title I at Ware County High School is a schoolwide program.
What is a Title I school? We get federal monies to help improve academic achievement
How do we spend the money? Staff, supplemental instructional materials, and consumable items Conduct need assessment/parent surveys on programs/workshops/presentations
How do we participate? We conduct a needs assessment that includes data from achievement at the school, attendance, information for surveys, and input from parents and community members. From that information, we create a School Improvement Plan that includes goals and plans to reach those goals. State and local funds along with Title I money is used to support the School Improvement Plan.
Schoolwide means all students are eligible to participate

5. Goals for FY18 ●End of Course Milestones – ELA & Math
Ninth Grade ELA - Increase the number of students performing at

Algebra I - Increase the percentage of students performing at

6. Graduation Rate
4-year graduates: Increase overall Graduation Rate from % (FY16) to 84%

12. Teacher Professional Qualifications
This month a letter was sent home with every student with directions for finding out the Professional Qualifications of your child’s teacher and/or paraprofessionals. That same information is on the school
website and on page 16 of the school handbook.

13. How is Title I Parent & Family Engagement money spent?
Information from the 2017 Spring Parent Survey, Spring Stakeholder Input meeting, and the school needs assessment was used to determine the best way to use funds.
At WCHS the money designated for parent and family engagement will be used to help pay for the purchase of Study Island subscription. The 1% Title set aside money will be used to help pay for Study Island as the use of this resource will help students reach the school learning goals.
Teachers utilize the Study Island assignments to supplement student achievement. Students can access and use the program on any computer anywhere.

Documentation that all items are disseminated
WCHS PEP and School Compacts to be sent home soon.
The plans describes the different ways the district and school will support students and parents so that all students have the best opportunities to reach high learning goals.
The compact is an agreement that parents, students, and teachers develop together. It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all of our students reach grade-level standards.
Say: All three of these documents are created with input from parents, family, school staff, and community members. We will be sending each document home next week (whenever?) and you will receive a form to complete. It is important to sign the from and return it to the teacher. This will document that we have given all items to you.
Have all three of these documents on a table for parents to pickup as they leave. Taking one is optional.

Resource Center has up to date information about ways for parents to get involved. PIP, Compact, Media Center, Parent Portal, Hi Q letters, Milestone Information, Ware County Title I brochure
