Example: She wore a dress designed by her aunt (participial phrase) Example: Limping badly, the hiker continued down the slope. (participial phrase)

the theme is often a warning against excess such as pride or passion. Tragedies are supposed to remind us that every decision involves choosing - and living with - the unforseen consequences of these choices.
