4 Tokaj from the birds’ eye-view

Tokaj is on the part of Tisza and Bodrog rivers. The foot of the hill and the Tisza river meet here and it resulted in the early name of 'Kőrév' . Rivers

When the name of Tokaj is mentioned, people toss their heads. They pay attention to the deserving words, sentences. They agree when the world-famous Tokaji is praised, but protest when it is disparaged. Its reputation, which originated from the Middle Ages, still exists. 7 Bacchus-well, Rákóczy-cellar The Museum
On the main square stands the statue of St. Stephen (Péterfy László, 2000). The square is also decorated by the so called Bacchus-well at the foreground of the building of Hétszőlő Plc. The Hétszőlő Plc. owns the Rákóczy cellar, where the parliament declared the coronation of Szapolyai János (1527). The Greek Commercial House can be found at the Derékutca. One of them was owned by the Morelli and the other (today is the Tokaj Museum) was by the Christmas family's shop and house. It was built in the last fifth of the XVIII. century. The Museum

8 Sightseeing of Tokaj. Main Square The statue of St. Stephen
The high street of the town has several small shops reminding us of the late feudal, commercial role. Suddenly we arrive at the main square of the town, which has several sights. There is a catholic church (1913) on the left and a reformed church ( ) is on the west. The former General house (place of the headquarters) opens to this square.

9 The entrance of the Lutheran church also decorates the main square which was built in 1799 and was allegedly used since 1800. Churches
