2 The Corporate Logo Trademark Symbol Choosing a File Format Printing
The corporate logo is the main element of the company’s identity. Consistent and correct use of the logo is extremely important in creat- ing and maintaining a strong brand identity. The benefit of maintaining consistent use of the logo is brand aware- ness from your constituents: customers, prospects, employees, press, analysts and partners. Brand awareness can evoke emotion--and influ- ence decision--simply from recognition of a logo or color. Trademark Symbol The trademark symbol (TM) should appear with the logo in almost every instance. In some instances, it may be necessary to slightly scale the trademark symbol to accommodate legibility. Choosing a File Format When choosing a file format, several factors come into play--will it be printed or will it be displayed online? Will it be in full-color or black-and- white? Printing The Pantone Matching System (PMS) is recognized worldwide as the printing industry standard for color matching. PMS 3425 has been selected as the “Vernier Green”. PMS 021 has been selected as the “Vernier Orange”. PMS 423 has been selected as the “Vernier Grey”. When allowed, PMS 3425 should be the first choice when choosing a color for the logo combined with PMS 021 “Vernier Orange”. I cases where the Orange would appear to clash with the color of the surface application please use PMS 423 “Vernier Grey”. On certian applications a metallic silver may also be used for the word Networks. Please consult the Marketing Department when choosing this option. CMYK stands for the 4-color printing process that uses Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black to produce over 256 million colors.The CMYK “recipe” for the Vernier logo is detailed in the Color section of this guide.The CMYK logo should be used when printing is limited to four colors. Black In instances where the logo will only be printed using a laser printer or black ink, a solid black logo should be used. White The logo can appear in white when reversed out of a dark background, but this should be limited in use. Please consult the Marketing Department when choosing this option.

Logo Presentation In order to maintain the integrity of the Vernier logo, it must remain clear of other elements such as type, images or other design elements. Clear Space The clear space around the logo is equal to the height of the letter “I”. Do not crowd the logo. When in doubt, add more clear space. Background The logo may appear on a background only if the background is no darker than 10% grey tone/CMYK/PMS value.The logo cannot appear over a pattern of any kind. Improper Logo Usage Improper treatment of the logo can dilute the brand awareness and lower perception of the company and its products and services. Please avoid these common, improper uses of the logo. • Do not distort, stretch, redraw or redesign. • Logo colors should always remain consistent. Do not fade or alter colors in any way. • Logo should never appear over a pattern of any kind. • Do not recreate the logo using a different typeface. Special consideration has been given to the spacing between letters and alterations of certain characters. • Do not place the logo within a shape.
