Protein supplements Nicole Meyers Kaplan university HW499

2 A bad diet promotes less protein consumption
The main issue with protein supplementation is that either people do not look at it like they need it (when they probably do in regards to not eating a healthy diet) – or people abuse supplementing protein in their diets by over- doing it. There is a point in between those extremes where choosing a whey protein powder can be very beneficial for the body. If a person knows they are getting the right amount of protein with each day of eating. Then, maybe a protein supplement is not for you. For anyone else that feels they need more protein in their diet as well as needing more protein for muscle repair after a work- out, then this informative power-point will be leading you to educational websites to help you choose which supplements are best to fit your lifestyle.

3 To find out more about various protein powders….
“International Society of Sports Nutrition position stand: protein and exercise.” This journal explains how protein powder works and includes studies on the effects of using it. 5 Recommendations (Reference: http://www.reviews.com/protein-powder/)
The main recommendation for using any protein supplement is to do your research. If a sales-person really has to push a supplement to sell it for the store, and yet the supplement is not the best in the market, you need to make sure to read the label yourself and see what makes up each brand of whey protein. A “hidden ingredient” that many people do not see right away is the sugar content. If there is a very high amount of sugar (or ANY artificial sweetener) in a certain protein powder, I would make sure to look elsewhere. (Reference:

6 Precautions Liver damage Allergies
Any extra intake of something is not good for the body. This goes for protein intake as well. When the body has an intake of an extreme amount of protein, the liver begins to weaken and not function as it should be. Death could be a consequence if an extreme amount of protein is going into the body each day. (Reference: / ) As stated previously, it is important to read the ingredients on a protein powder. Some powders are created with lactose ingredients as well as nuts. Because there are many people with allergies, there are protein powders that are specifically catered to those with lactose or nut allergies (as well as other different allergies).
