2 ATI TEAS Admission Assessment A Holistic Admission Offering
Blueprint based on nurse educator feedback Predictive of early nursing program success Trusted: Used by over 1900 health science programs Ability to identify applicants academic readiness Streamlined reporting/transcripts Versatile administration options Take time here to tell the story behind how the TEAS was created. Read page 4 & 5 of the Tech Manual. The key is to share that we gathered Nurse Educators and math, science, reading, and English subject matter experts from the 9-12 grades. Together they discussed what national education standards were important for an entry level nursing student to know. We then sent their analysis out via a national survey to get more feedback. The feedback from the survey and our committee of nurse educators informed the ATI TEAS blueprint.

3 ATI TEAS Data Post Diagnostic Reference A Holistic Admission Offering

5 The Challenge Recent applicants unprepared for the rigor of health sciences Self-guided prep for TEAS inadequate Students weaker in substantive knowledge The number of students graduating from high school unprepared for the rigor of health science study are increasing. Students lack skills that lead to academic success Study habits and time management are crucial to self-prep for entrance exams ATI Proprietary

6 The Solution Aligned to TEAS blueprint Customized and self-guided
Engaging Students weaker in substantive knowledge Solution: provide students with the means to help remediate their weaknesses Students lack study skills (and time management) that lead to academic success Solution: a self-guided but interactive/engaging tutorial addresses the problem of student focus and discipline to the task. Even better, it is customized to each students’ strengths and weaknesses based on their performance on the pre-test. Learner-centered, interactive instruction & assessment Bringing the same engaging style and substantive content clients expect from ATI tutorials like Pharmacology Made Easy and Skills Modules. Aligned to ATI TEAS Content is weighted according to the TEAS blueprint, so students focus their studying on the right subjects, in the right proportion. That means more lessons covering Science and Reading. ATI Proprietary

7 The most extensive preparation available
65 individual lessons and more than 650 questions Human anatomy & physiology Life and physical sciences Scientific reasoning Key ideas and details Craft and structure Integration of knowledge & ideas Numbers and algebra Measurement and data 65 unique lessons covering the subjects and concepts that TEAS-takers need to know to do their best. The number of lessons in each module align with the TEAS blueprint, so there will be more lessons covering Reading and Science, but all four subject areas are covered in-depth. Science: 22 lessons, covering Human A&P, Life & Physical Sciences, Scientific Reasoning and more Reading: 19 lessons, covering Key ideas and details, Craft & Structure, Integration of Knowledge & Ideas, and more Math: 15 lessons, covering Numbers and algebra, measurement & data, and more English & Language Usage: 9 lessons, covering Conventions of standard English, Knowledge of language, vocabulary acquisition, and more Conventions of standard English Knowledge of language Vocabulary acquisition ATI Proprietary

8 English and Language Usage
Course Structure Modules Reading Math Science English and Language Usage Lessons 19 15 22 9 Key Concept Videos In-depth Content  Rich visuals The number of lessons within each module correspond to the weight given each subject by the TEAS. But every module, and every lesson is packed with in-depth content, videos explaining key concepts, and rich visuals to engage the learner. ATI Proprietary

18 ATI TEAS Assessment

19 ATI TEAS: Purpose The ATI TEAS will:
Promoting Student and Program Success The ATI TEAS will: Measure the level of general academic preparedness of students entering a health science program of study. Diagnose the strengths and weaknesses of admitted students immediately following entry into a health science program of study. ATI assessment testing is a proven method of predicting future academic success for nursing and allied health students, based on years of data collected and analyzed by educators. The ATI TEAS tests the basic academic skills that incoming students will need to perform in class and in real-world jobs. The assessments also give you the data you need to understand the strengths and weaknesses of your students as they enter your program.

20 ATI TEAS: Quality Design
ATI TEAS Outline and Weighting Outline Content Weighting Four-part multiple choice exam Total testing time: 3:29 minutes Total number of questions: 170 with 20 are un-scored pretest questions ATI TEAS Outline Four-part multiple choice exam: Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English and Language Usage. Total testing time for the TEAS V is 3 hours and 29 minutes. Total number of questions is 170; however, 20 are un-scored pretest questions.

21 ATI TEAS: Content Areas
Science and Reading were determined to be most predictive of early nursing program success and are weighted the most – 31%. Math was next and is weighted as 22% of the test and English and Language Usage making up 16% of the test. Reading : 47 items (64 minutes) Math: 32 items (54 minutes) Science: 47 items (63 minutes) English and Language Usage: 24 items (28 minutes)

22 ATI TEAS Academic Preparedness Categories
When we created the TEAS, we worked with Nurse Educators to define the following academic preparedness categories. These categories help you think through what type of student your program can support and helps inform the level of academic preparedness of your applicant population.

23 ATI TEAS Academic Preparedness Categories Cut Score
The purpose of the National Standard Setting Study was to develop a set of recommended criterion-referenced cut scores that nursing schools could adopt as benchmarks for student performance on the TEAS. Read the document entitled ATI TEAS Academic Preparedness Level

24 ATI TEAS National Normative Data
Normative data is collected such as National mean, national percentile rank, program mean and program percentile rank. Mean: Average score Example: Total national mean score is 65.6% Percentile Rank: % of students who scored at or below your score Example: Total score of 66%; 52nd percentile rank which means 52% of the people scored at or below my score, while 48% scored above my score.

25 ATI TEAS BSN Normative Data
Normative data is collected such as National mean, national percentile rank, program mean and program percentile rank.

26 ATI TEAS: Score Report Walk through the report pointing out the following Attempt/Days since last attempt: important if they choose to have a retake policy Total Score/Academic Preparedness Category National/Program Mean/Percentile Rank

27 ATI TEAS: Score Report The Score Report has a Topics To Review section that identifies question topics they missed for further remediation.

34

35 Accuracy: The percentage of students in the sample who are correctly classified as successful or unsuccessful using the determined TEAS cut score. Error: The percentage of students in the sample who are incorrectly classified as successful or unsuccessful using the determined TEAS cut score. Balanced Accuracy: This statistic provides a more balanced view of overall accuracy when the percentage of successful students is disproportionately high or low compared to the percentage of unsuccessful students. Sensitivity: The percentage of students who are above the TEAS cut score and are successful compared to all students who are successful.
