Meal Planning Eating with friends when camping is so fun! As a troop we like to go shopping for the planned meals. Some meal ideas are below: milk & cereals muffins pancake bagel and cream cheese (idea: toast the bagel on the buddy burner … we did that and it worked!) yogurt & granola hot dogs (h’dogs, buns, ketchup) spaghetti burgers (buns, ketchup, mustard, pickles) mac and cheese pizza on a bagel (check out ours done on a buddy burner … cool) banana boat (banana, chocolate chips, marshmallows) s’mores (marshmallow, graham crackers, chocolate; fun – try making it with Samoas cookies)
10
First aid Girls Scouts should always carry either a prepackaged first-aid kit or a DIY kit Troop leaders should carry a bigger and more supplied first aid kit Knowing how to use the items in a first-aid kit is as important as having them so, before camping trips please review basic first aid – blister treatment, insect string relief, wound covering

Fire safety Bring fire supplies – fire wood, fire starter and matches and safety items - small shovel, gloves to protect your hands, small bucket for water Fire Safety Look Up and Around – keep an 8 to 10 foot radius clear; no low branches close by, no brush or bush near by, no aerosol or pressurized containers Safety proof the pit – if there is no metal ring, circle the pit with rocks Have water near by - you want to always have water, dirt or a shovel nearby to help reduce the flames or put it out completely if necessary Always watch - Regardless of what is going on, make sure someone always has an eye on the fire Extinguish before bed - When it's time to retire to bed, you need to put out the fire. You throw water or dirt on the fire
