ScanWorkX

DSI® ScanWorkX® Selected
“A comprehensive search and evaluation ensued for a certified 3rd party solution and only ScanWorkX was found to work with WHS. Product demonstrations and interviews with key personnel to test in-depth knowledge of WHS were an important part of the process. The user interface, smart navigation, completeness of transactions, and the parameter-driven configuration was impressive. We were looking for a product which was easy to use, set-up, and tightly integrated with Dynamics AX.” - Rick Trask, Director of Information Technology, Nonin

Business Case for AN Advanced Warehouse
Planning for implementation began in May 2014 Configuration and set up started in November 2014 “Go Live” was February 2016 with all applicable modules Financial, Procurement, Orders, Production, Warehouse, Shipping and 3rd party ISV adds. Complexity and volume of orders required AX 2012 R3 Advanced Warehouse Module-WHS. WHS acquired from a third party; advanced features work directives, location directives, license plates and wave picking. WMS2 which will be deprecated in future versions of AX. Benefit would be built in RF bar code scanning (WMD), no investment required for add-on package.
8
An Implementation and Business Slowed by WHS
Complexity and problems associated with WHS consumed over 10 months of the 15-month project time line Eight (8) months to configure WHS, two (2) months to setup native RF barcode scanning Operating the warehouse in rudimentary fashion required another ten (10) weeks of custom coding was to fix bugs, attempt to fill functional gaps and improve scan gun response times. Unworkable with 5 minute delays on some scans “While WHS has some really attractive features it lacked the flexibility and maturity for distribution operations. We clearly needed a better mobile data collection solution and related WHS fixes to run our business.” - Ben Newberg, Warehouse Manager, Nonin

Solution Delivered Transactions
ScanWorkX® was deployed on customer’s RF Scanners from Honeywell/Intermec®. Scanners were Model CK71’s while label printers were Zebra and DataMax. Solution Delivered Transactions Purchase Order Receipt* Return Order Start Production Production Picking WHS Production Pick List Adjustment Report as Finished* Item inquiry w/ Label Print Movement Journal Transfer Journal Count (on-demand + directed) Pick WHS* Consolidate Shipment WHS Change Password Change Printer Change Warehouse *Async Processing Applied 15 transactions for 10 concurrent users ScanWorkX Async FrameWorkX™ for batch processing Async feature solve latency and performance issues within WHS (Not currently using) Honeywell CK71 scanners Zebra and DataMax printers

Making WHS Better PO Receipt
Nonin’s ScanWorkX transactions and feature/function performance of items NOT found/working in WHS native. PO Receipt Posting the Product Receipt: Before implementation this was a 2 step process. Label Printing: This was integrated into the product receipt as we label all incoming product. This was a 2 step process prior to ScanWorkx which operators had to go from scanner to a bartender program times a day. Label setup in ScanWorkx offered big savings for the warehouse team selecting the labels right from the receipt. Cancel/Correct the Product Receipt: (Bypassing warehouse management processes) With the old process we had to put a negative line on a PO, pick the product back and create another PO line to receipt again. LOV’s to Lookup PO’s: The ability to have this information on the handheld prevents us from needing to use the PC for PO line lookup. Serialized receipts: Could not be done in native scanning system. Input Serial number ranges instantaneously. Benchmark 720 S/N < 1 sec. with ScanWorkX asynchronous mode. No alternative to create serial number ranges in WHS scanning. Serial number ranges must be created in the AX client when using the WHS scanning solution. Post Each Journal When Counting: This ensures that the count variance is correct at the time of counting.

Making WHS Better Change Warehouse Change Printer Production Pick WHS
Nonin’s ScanWorkX transactions and feature/function performance of items NOT found/working in WHS native. Change Warehouse Temporarily Change Warehouses: WHS does not have this functionality. It is typical for users to forget to change their warehouse back in WHS. This leads to transacting in the wrong warehouse the next day. Change Printer Temporarily Change Printers: Label printing is not configured in WHS, so printing with ScanWorkX is a major benefit. Production Pick WHS Pick Any Line in the Work: WHS can only skip work lines one at a time. With ScanWorkX, they can use the item LOV to navigate to any work line. Report Finished End the Production Order When Reporting Finished the Last Item: The WHS Report Finished transaction does not end production orders, which requires user action to manually end production orders. Pick Unpick (Reduce Picked Quantity) From ScanWorkX: When using the standard WHS scanning solution, unpicking can only be completed from the AX client and not from the mobile device.

Making WHS Better Movement / Transfer Journal Return Order
Nonin’s ScanWorkX transactions and feature/function performance of items NOT found/working in WHS native. Movement / Transfer Journal Journal: Not available in the WHS mobile device, so doing this from ScanWorkX great benefit. The flexibility to utilize functions outside warehouse management provides a better solution for our business. Inventory management journals for transfers and movement journals for internal orders (especially for serial transfers and moves) is a significant time saver for our business. Return Order Return Order Posting: Post/print the packing slip from ScanWorkX. (In process with auto printing) Other Key Functions Ease in creating new users and menu items by user Cloning transactions (Transfer journals, movement journals only allowing negative issue) Paging console Starting production orders from the handheld Item inquiry (the ability to look up a part from a description) No getting stuck in-between transactions PC Handheld transaction inquiry to eventually track employee performance List of Values in all functions
