4. MSDS ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Must be between the age of with only Gr 12
Must be between the age of with post Gr 12 qualification
Must be a South African citizen
Be preferably single
Must not be area bound
Must be medically fit
No criminal offence

5. GRADUATES MSDS PROCESS
Do not undergo psychometric evaluation
Only medical examination, Finger prints and mustering interview
Still undergo normal MSDS Programme:
Basic Military Training
Corps Training
Same principles applies as for GR 12 when considered for CSS contract
May be considered for officer training if the candidate meets the requirements

18. COMBAT OFFICER/OPERATOR
Combat Officers/Operators are the fighting core of the Navy and execute the Navy’s main function - Maritime Warfare
Combat Operators includes Radar Operators, Communication ratings, Gunners, Divers, Mine Counter Measures Operators, Maritime Reaction Squadron and Operational Boat Squadron operators
Combat Officers command the Navy’s Ships/Submarines and lead the Navy’s combat elements
Requirements. At east Level 4 in Mathematics and Physical science for Officers, and a pass for Operators.

They render important support to the combat element by means of maintaining operational ships/ submarines in a continuous state of readiness
This is achieved through maintenance and modernization of existing weapons, electronic and propulsion systems and the design and development of new systems

Naval Technical Officers: work closely with the Engineering Officers
Non commissioned officers: includes ammunition, mechanical, electrical, survival equipment and instrument fitters etc
Requirements: NSC level 3 for NCO’s and level 4 for officers in Mathematics and Physical Science

To provide medical health service support to the Department of Defence

23. STUDY OPPORTUNITIES MBCHB (Medicine)
The degree qualifies successful students to be medical doctors
After the completion of the degree Medical officers are employed in Military Hospitals, Sickbays, and Clinics including rural areas
SAMHS deploy doctors for support to military operational deployment including peacekeeping in Africa
