Heritage and Quality The Dammann history dates back to 1692 when King Louis XIV gave Monsieur Dammann the exclusive privilege “to sell, let sell and debit to the exclusion of all others….tea” Inspired by their family’s rich history in purveying tea, brothers Robert & Pierre founded Dammann Frères company in 1925 For over 80 years, the Dammann family has pursued their passion for quality tea through an unrelenting quest to offer the most extraordinary collection of unique, hand-picked premium teas Tradition & dedication to the pursuit of a perfect cup of tea continues to be the inspiration for the Dammann brand

Generations of expertise in teas
Quality and partnership We work with our producers in the countries of origin to ensure our access to top quality teas. Our experts develop special bonds with these tea producers. Expertise For three generations, our master tea specialists have continued to develop and master the art of flavoring tea. Innovation Mixing teas with various flavors and fragrances , enriching them with flower petals, pieces of fruit and spices, to create more than 3000 original and exclusive flavors. One of Damman’s greatest creations was the Cristal tea bag. Each blend is carefully placed in Dammann’s special Cristal tea bag. Slight and transparent, the bag helps you realize the taste and aesthetic pleasures of the teas without tasting the actual bag in your brew.

Blending and Flavoring
In the 1950s, Jean Jumeau-Lafond and Dammann Frères enlarged the circle of tea lovers by introducing the concept of tea flavoring to French teas. Prior to this time, tea offerings were limited to classic Chinese floral and smoky scented teas, with Earl Grey as the only alternative flavor. Jean Jumeau-Lafond widened the flavor spectrum of the offering, introducing citrus-scented teas, as well as an improved version of the classic Earl Grey tea, with essential oil of the bergamot fruit from Calabria. Teas are flavored using essential oils and other natural ingredients (no artificial flavorings) Over 3000 exclusive blends have been developed over the years Unique and one of a kind tea flavors – L’Oriental, Quatre Fruits Rouges, Jardin Bleu, Pomme D’Amour

Breakfast The most noted flavor created by Mr. Jumeau-Lafond was the blend which he called Goût Russe Douchka. The tea was created as a tribute to his Russian-born wife. Each morning, she was in the habit of squeezing a quarter of an orange into her tea. Mr. Jumeau-Lafond attempted to duplicate this flavor by obtaining a supply of essential oils from Grasse, a city in South Eastern France, famous since the 18th century as a center for perfumes and flavorings. Through trial and error he captured the flavor of his wife’s morning tea, and Goût Russe became a Dammann Frères signature tea. Breakfast is the most important time of day for consumption of tea Range of 30 Cristal® envelopped tea bags are available to purchase
