2 Quantifit Controlled Negative Pressure Fit Test Protocol

3 The CNP Technology Developed in 1992 OSHA Accepted in 1998
Incorporates a faster 5-step protocol Measures mask integrity during the test Offers a specific SCBA protocol for high-risk applications The Fastest Quantitative method available to date Can be calibrated to NIST standard National Institute of Standards and Technology Record keeping with FitTrackGold

4 Controlled Negative Pressure(CNP)
Controlled Negative Pressure REDON Protocol Used by the OHD Quantifit testing instrument Uses Controlled Negative Pressure to directly measure respirator leakage. CNP precisely measures the leak rate by determining the amount of air that leaks into the respirator during the fit test. Direct Measurement Similar to a PosiChek Test for User Face Seal Uses Air as the Challenge Agent

5 CNP – How it Works The respirator inlets are capped with test adapters. If an inhalation valve is present, it will be propped open. Test subject holds his or her breath for no more than 10 seconds….actual test is only 8 seconds At the same time, the Quantifit establishes and maintains a slight vacuum (ie...controlled negative pressure) inside the mask Since the respirator inlets are sealed, all sources of leakage into the mask are through the face-to-facepiece seal The volume of air drawn out during the 8 seconds is equal to the leak rate into the mask through the face-to-facepiece seal.

6 Fit Factor= _______________
Fit Factor Formula Breathing Rate (BR) expressed in liters/min. DIVIDED BY Leak Rate (LR) expressed in cc/min Fit Factor= _______________ Breathing Rate Leak Rate

7 Controlled Negative Pressure
Smokers are not an issue Test can be performed anywhere Each Step can be restarted without starting completely over No issues with eating or drinking beforehand CNP has a faster 5 step protocol (3 - 4 Minutes) Uses Air to challenge the mask

8 Daily Requirements for CNP Fit Testing
Daily Calibration (if needed) Attach Adapters / Prop Inhalation Valve Select or Input the Test Subject Info into FitTrack Gold Software Select Test Type (Full or Half face?) Begin Test Face Forward Bending at waist Shake Head (3 Seconds) REDON 1 REDON 2 Save & Print

9 Things Needed Power Cord

10 Things Needed Triple Tube Assembly

11 Things Needed White Trigger Button

12 Things Needed Fit Test Adapter

13 Connect to the Computer that has Fit Track Gold Software installed
Set Up Connect to the Computer that has Fit Track Gold Software installed

14 Plug in Keyboard if not using Computer
Set Up Plug in Keyboard if not using Computer

15 Set Up For Daily Calibration – Plug in ONLY the two WHITE hoses to the “Dual Tube Cal” ports

16 SET UP Optical Sensor Push Nob for scrolling and selecting

17 Perform Daily Calibration
If needed, the Quantifit will prompt you to perform the Daily Calibration

18 Perform Daily Calibration
Plug the Male & Female side of the “Triple Tube Assy” into the front of the QF. These two below are called the “Dual Tubes”

19 Perform Daily Calibration
Using the Male & Female side, plug the “Triple Tube Assy” into the front of the QF.

20 Perform Daily Calibration
Plug the White Trigger Button into the “Trigger Port”

21 Perform Daily Calibration
Plug the opposite end of the interchangeable white tubes to the “Dual Tube Cal” ports on the Back Don’t Worry, the blue tube won’t fit

22 Perform Daily Calibration
Start Daily Cal Takes about 1 minute

23 Items Needed to perform the QNFT Test w/ CNP
Items Needed for CNP Testing OHD Quantifit Fit Test OHD Adapter for the Facepiece An Inhalation Valve Prop or a Quarter Turn Filter Adapter

24 Setting Up for the Test Prop Open or remove the Inhalation Valve

25 Setting Up for the Test If the mask is an SCBA, you will use a cartridge adapter which will automatically prop open the valve

26 Setting Up for the Test Connect the OHD Adapter.
The adapter will either be a one piece or two piece adapter

27 Setting Up for the Test Dual Tube Side (WHITE) Single Blue Tube

28 Setting Up for the Test Single Adapter

29 User Seal Check Not Required but may help with proper fit or find a leak before the test begins

30 Performing the Test Use the “Redon Protocol” for Half Face Masks

31 Performing the Test Use the “SCBA Protocol” for Full Face Masks & SCBA’s

32 Performing the Test Each Step is 8 seconds long and requires that the trigger button be pressed for the entire 8 seconds. After 8 seconds of testing, the pressure inside the mask will automatically discharge without having to release the trigger button.

34 Test Steps (1) Facing Forward: Face forward, while holding breath
(2) Bending Over: Face parallel to the floor, while holding breath for (3) Shake Head: Shake head vigorously side to side for about 3 seconds and then Face forward, while holding breath (4) REDON 1: Remove the respirator mask, loosen all straps, and then redon the respirator mask. Face forward, while holding breath for (5) REDON 2: Remove the respirator mask, loosen all straps, and then redon the respirator mask. Face forward, while holding breath

35 Performing the Test 1. Face Forward, hold a comfortable breath sealing off air to your lungs, press the button for 8 seconds Note: Subject should hold breath until the pressure from the mask is released.

36 Performing the Test 2. Bending at the Waist, hold a comfortable breath sealing off air to your lungs, press the button for 8 seconds Note: Subject should hold breath until the pressure from the mask is released.

37 Performing the Test 3. While facing forward Shake head left to right for about 3 seconds and then stop. Then hold a comfortable breath sealing off air to your lungs, press the button for 8 seconds and then release. Note: Subject should hold breath until the pressure from the mask is released.

38 Performing the Test 4. Redon the Mask. Take the mask completely off and then put it back on. Face Forward, hold a comfortable breath sealing off air to your lungs, press the button for 8 seconds Note: Subject should hold breath until the pressure from the mask is released.

39 Performing the Test 5. Redon the Mask again. Take the mask completely off and then put it back on. Face Forward, hold a comfortable breath sealing off air to your lungs, press the button for 8 seconds Note: Subject should hold breath until the pressure from the mask is released.

46 Two Ways to use the Quantifit
Computer & Software You can operate the Quantifit with a PC or Laptop through the FitTrack Gold software. Print from Software Stand Alone With the Keyboard plugged in, you can input the information needed to perform the test You can print directly from the Quantifit to an HP printer The Quantifit will hold 500 tests onboard Transfer the saved test data from the Quantifit to Fit Track Gold Software via Thumb drive USB directly to the computer
