Recent Notable Achievements
Successfully using ultrasound to render cerebral blood vessels temporarily permeable to increase drug delivery in tumor patients.
Pioneered new prediction methods that played a crucial role in detecting and analyzing the signal in gravitational wave detectors.
Established new data showing a major reorganization of the distribution of heat at the surface of the oceans was the trigger of the Ice Age.
In order to research major issues, a transdisciplinary approach is needed. UPMC’s structuring of its research laboratories into four divisions has played a key role in opening up the frontiers of scientific domains.

In mathematics, biomedical imaging, computer sciences, materials and nano sciences, marine and cell biology, brain and mind sciences, bioinformatics, and molecular development

Master’s degrees have an even larger research component, and include a semester of practical experience. Our graduates are therefore particularly employable.
At our last survey, 87% of our graduates were either employed or in a PhD program within 18 months after graduation. And 86% or those working were hired directly at management level and with long-term contracts.
