Results Answered: 313 Skipped: 0 Out of 19 Schools Sites In the Murrieta Valley Unified School District

Q1: Please select your school site and position held

Q2: Water fountains at my school are clean and in good working condition

COMMENTS •We need more water bottle filling stations •I would like to see refill stations for water bottles •Would benefit from a "Bottle Filling" spout •The student bathrooms & water fountain next to the playground were removed. I do believe there should be a working water fountain by the playground •They often don't work. The water barely comes out and it is impossible for a whole class to get a drink. The water is warm and doesn't taste very good •Students don't like using them because the water comes out warm due to their location to the sun, especially the one by the C building bathrooms •I pay for Palomar Spring Water out of pocket for my classroom use •Many of the fountains in the PE area do not work at all. Work orders have been put in, but they have not been fixed •Especially the two on the field which need to be in working order. Sometimes there are 4 p.e classes on the field at once with students in each class, and usually only one facet is useable •The fountain by tennis courts is not functional frequently •I have never heard a kid say that they were broken or gross. Some of them are •They are clean, but there are a lot of fountains that are broken •The children have told me that only one is working at one of the fountains outside Q2: Water fountains at my school are clean and in good working condition •Not very clean •I don't know if they are clean but they don't look inviting and many of our SPED students lick them •disgusting, low water pressure, very dirty •Sometimes they are pretty nasty

Q3: The staff and parent/student organizations at my school are encouraged to use healthy food items or non-food items for fundraising purposes

COMMENTS •I don't believe so •Don't agree that fundraisers need to be healthy •Yes for non food items, but cookie dough is not necessarily healthy •Fundraising, possibly, class treats from home=no •We are not allowed to sell any food items for fundraising •We have the Fun Run •I see both food and non-food fundraisers being used Q3: The staff and parent/student organizations at my school are encouraged to use healthy food items or non-food items for fundraising purposes

Q4: All students are provided opportunities for moderate to vigorous physical activity on a regular basis

COMMENTS Classes are required to do PE although there is very little equipment to play with I feel PE should be a 4 year requirement. So for 2 years out of 4 I would agree opportunities offered, but not taken advantage of. Kids hate PE If regular basis is each class period, I would say no. Many students miss their p.e time for speech, and other pull out programs that are either academic, or behavior related Our field has been closed for 3 months due to ants! Q4: All students are provided opportunities for moderate to vigorous physical activity on a regular basis

Q5: I am aware that there are nutritional requirements for all foods and beverages sold to students during the school day by all entities (cafeteria, student stores, vending machines, club fundraisers, etc.) CDE- Competitive Foods and Beverages

COMMENTS Q5: I am aware that there are nutritional requirements for all foods and beverages sold to students during the school day by all entities (cafeteria, student stores, vending machines, club fundraisers, etc.) CDE- Competitive Foods and Beverages The nutritional guidelines are skewed if we compare the foods served Why ask if I agree or disagree whether I am aware? But i don't agree with them Why is this not a yes/no question?

Q6: Staff are encouraged to serve as positive role models for healthy eating and physical fitness

COMMENTS I think we try to be positive role models, but this has not been mandated by administration Negative role models also have a place I have never heard encouragement, but I don't see horribly unhealthy behaviors in adults Never encountered this model at our site and I have been here since we opened ASB serves pizza too often in my opinion I've never been "told" to do this - - I just do! Q6: Staff are encouraged to serve as positive role models for healthy eating and physical fitness

Q7: School staff avoid the use of non-nutritious foods (ex. candy) as a reward for students academic performance, accomplishments, or classroom behavior

COMMENTS Ice Cream used as treat/award Some do , some don't Some staff still use candy/soda/etc as a reward. I do not agree with this. I do believe there are staff members who give candy to students. I don't give out candy or sweet treats, but many others definitely do use candy as a reward or treat Treats are with parent permission and consent Personally, I think a little piece of candy once in awhile for a job well done is okay. I do, but I cannot say what others choose to do. Teachers are told not to... but a lot use soda or candy for rewards Based on hear-say Q7: School staff avoid the use of non-nutritious foods (ex. candy) as a reward for students academic performance, accomplishments, or classroom behavior

Q8: My school promotes employee wellness programs and encourages regular activity among staff

COMMENTS Assistant Principal Heather Just runs a "fit girls" club that encourages healthy eating and exercise in the fitness lab, but that is the only "program" of which I am aware. It would be nice. I don't believe they are interested in us personally, If you don't mean health care, what are you talking about? Never heard of anything like this Promoted Crunch Fitness gym membership/discount We need this! I like chocolate Q8: My school promotes employee wellness programs and encourages regular activity among staff

Q9: My school site encourages healthy eating habits by limiting the amount of non-nutritious foods available to the students for classroom celebrations, holidays, birthdays, etc.

COMMENTS Avoid juices for kids I have not asked about the actual rules being followed here We don't do classroom celebrations ASB serves pizza for all recognition events If only!! I see so much "crud" given to the kids. The snacks sold by the PTA are full of sugar and fake colors! But, everyone needs a little junk food, at times, in their life! don't do them. Cupcakes/cookies are brought in for birthdays on a regular basis Q9: My school site encourages healthy eating habits by limiting the amount of non-nutritious foods available to the students for classroom celebrations, holidays, birthdays, etc.
