3 Role of Administrator & Team
Evaluate current practices, routines, procedures Develop or clarify the expectations for student behavior. Ensure that monitors are trained. Periodically review, update and address the concerns and suggestions of the faculty.

Ensure that monitors are trained. Are the monitors adhering to the guidelines for success adopted by the campus? Is there a reward/praise system in place? Periodically review, update and address the concerns and suggestions of the faculty. Is there an on-going system that allows faculty input on the procedures and student expectations.

6 PROCEDURES: The 5 S’s Scheduling – How much overlap is between classes? How long is a student lunch period? Serving Lines – What is the average wait time to be served? Supplies – Are these items readily accessible? Seating – Are there consistent seating/table assignments? Supervision – Are there adequate numbers monitors to meet the needs of students.

7 Logistics Physical arrangement: What are the traffic patterns?
How are the serving lines configured? How are the tables arranged? Waste Disposal: Where are the bins located? What is the accessibility of the clean up station? Noise Level: What is the attention signal? Do the student respond appropriately? Dismissal: How are students excused? How are students supervised to (or in) their pick up location?

8 Supervisors should….. …know the expectations that have been taught to students. …implement corrections consistently. …circulate throughout the area. …interact positively, set the tone for the area. … refer to the expectations when correcting students. …avoid confrontational behavior. …stay calm when correcting behavior. …be sure the student knows that you are serious.

9 Campus Monitors …. Indicate here what the Guidelines for success are in the specific campus cafeteria.

10 Tools for Success Lesson Plans – to ensure that the cafeteria expectations are specifically taught to the students. Surveys – to gather input from students, parents, and faculty in order to evaluate the effectiveness as needed. Rewards/Praise – tangibles that students earn when adhering to the expectations. Interaction – positive communication that directs students in appropriate behavior.
