2. Problem of Practice
The concept of makerspaces using many different areas of science and technology in school libraries is a growing trend in education. At this time, our elementary students do not have access to any type of hands on robotic equipment. Not having access to these current types of educational materials is quickly putting our students behind in 21st STEAM skills.

3. Robotics Kits
Our ARI grant was used to enhance our basic Maker Space by purchasing several Snap Circuit Sets, a Moss Double Brain Block kit, a Gyrobot robot kit, and a Makey Makey

24. Results
Our students were exposed to multiple problem solving strategies, working as a team, and deeper understanding of science and robotics. Students were asked to complete a survey regarding their experience with the Maker Space materials and activities. Some of the comments were:
“It was really fun, because you can be interactive with your friends.”
“This was a great inspiration! I loved it! This made me understand science and robotics better.”
“It was very fun! We made a piano and it worked really good. Then we made a speaker and it was very loud. It worked good too. I learned that metal is a conductor. It also taught me teamwork.”

“I learned how to use teamwork to make something big!”
“I liked our robotics lesson. It was fun and cool. The small robots were very complex to build, but fun to look at and play with.”
“What I feel about the robotics kits is that they were fun and challenging. It made me feel like I could use these skills to build a car.”
“The kits taught us a lot and helped me to understand wiring. I made a space car and it worked. I made a light show and it was a blast.”
“You can make so many things with Snap Circuits. I wish we could have more.”
