The amount of time that we ask pupils to spend on their homework in Year 2 equates to approximately min a day.

14 What can you do to help your child?
Listening to your child read and questioning them about what they have read. Reading to your child (anything and everything). Helping your child to learn their spellings (for ever, not just for the following days’ spelling test). Helping your child to learn number facts (times tables). Use maths in everyday situations. Ask your child to tell you the time, read ingredients to you, look at maps. Encourage your child to be involved with money when shopping, reading price labels, using coins, etc.

15 Useful Information Your child needs to bring a water bottle (with water inside) every day. Your child needs to bring their book bag every day. Please look inside book bags every evening or you may miss some important information or letters. Please do not put keyrings or charms on book bags as they make the trays difficult to close. Please keep other bags (such as back-packs) to a minimum as we do not have room to store them in KS1 lockers. Swimming is on Wednesdays during Term 1, Term 3 (January) and Term 6 (June). PE is every Thursday with Mrs Oakley and, when we are not swimming, on Wednesdays with Mrs Lucas. Your child needs a PE top, shorts and tracksuit bottoms, trainers or plimsolls. If it is cold outside, they can also wear their jumper or a tracksuit top. Please ensure that hair is tied back and earrings removed on PE and swimming days. Forest schools will continue. This is a valuable learning experience for children. Further information will be sent out in due course.

16 Remember the school website for additional information.

17 We look forward to an exciting term ahead! Thank you for your time.
