6 How to get Started Must start with a question (scientific method)
Demonstration vs. Experiment Must start with a question (scientific method) Science Buddies This is the big part of checkpoint #1 (pg. 10) Sofia – Paper towel example. Say- Start with a question. So, which paper towel is the most absorbent? Once you have a question chosen, you will then need to make sure the paper towels you test are all the same size, no matter what brand. You use the same type of liquid and the same amount when testing. You always test in the same spot, like the kitchen counter.

7 Next Step: research Checkpoint #2 (pg. 9) 10 Facts & Annotated Bibliography Students will need to find at least 3 resources Books: You can use the school or public library to find these. Websites: Find reliable websites that support your research and topic. Think .edu, .org, & .gov Use Easy Bib to cite your sources as part of your annotated bibliography. An example is on (pg. 7) Bailee- You will be turning in 2 items for checkpoint #2. They are listed on page 9 of your packet. You will need to type 10 facts about your topic. Then you will need to create an annotated bibliography. Which I will show an example of in the next slide.

8 Sample Annotated Bibliography
Use easybib.com to assist in formatting your citation. One sentence explaining why you chose to use this source.

9 Journal (page 4) Title Page Table of Contents Abstract Research
Hypothesis Materials Procedure Handwritten Diary Results Conclusion Bibliography Sofia – After checkpoint 2, the only other due date is the final due date. So make sure you help your child manage their time appropriately. One thing they will have to turn in is a journal, which is a packet with different components. They are also listed with descriptions on page 4 to help you when you start completing each of these pages. (Go through the 11 parts breifly). When you type of each of these pages, make sure your child is using proper grammar and spelling.
