2 SLOVAKIA-The Heart of Europe
The republic was established on 1st January 1993 after Czechoslovakia split into two countries – Czech Republic and Slovakia.  Slovakia is a landlocked country and fully enclosed by 5 neighbours: Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and Ukraine. In a beautiful spot at Kremnické Bane in Central Slovakia, you can find a stone marking the geographical centre of Europe.

4 BRATISLAVA – the capital city of Slovakia It is also the largest city in the country. Bratislava lies on both banks of the river Danube in southwestern Slovakia. Its originality between capitals is that it borders with two countries: Austria and Hungary.

5 BEAUTIFUL NATURE Slovakia has a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. There are 7 National parks in Slovakia : High Tatras, Low Tatras, Pieniny, Slovenský raj, Malá Fatra, Muránska planina, Poloniny. The Tatra Chamois is an endangered endemic subspecies living exclusively in the Tatra Mountains. This species can’t be found anywhere else on the planet but in the High Tatras!

6 Ochtinská Aragonite Cave
CAVES Slovakia has more than 4,000 dramatic caves and caverns under its mountains, 12 of which are open to the public. Ochtinská Aragonite Cave Dobšinská Ice Cave There are only four accessible aragonite caves on the planet, in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Mexico and Argentina. Slovakia has the Ochtinská Aragonite Cave. It differs from other caves in that there are no classic stalagmites and stalactites, but strange-looking milky white twigs and bushes made from aragonite.

7 Bojnice Castle Spiš Castle
It’s doubtful you’d find another country that has as many castles as Slovakia.. Spiš Castle is the largest fortified castle in Central Europe and since 1993 a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Altogether, Slovakia has as many as 220 castles and castle ruins and 425 chateaus.

8 SLOVAK FOLK CULTURE Fujara is Slovak national instrument. It is a large ( cm long sophisticated folk shepherd's overtone fipple flute of unique design.

9 Slovaks take great pride in the distinctive music, dance, handicrafts and folklore that have been handed down through the generations. There are many folk artistic groups keeping and representing these traditions. Inside of the house Slovak folk house

11 THE FEATHER FAIRY - PERINBABA
We couldn‘t imagine Christmas time without our very popular fairy tale -Perinbaba The Feather Fairy (Perinbaba) is a 1985 adaptation of a Brothers Grimm's Mother Hulda, directed by Slovak director Juraj Jakubisko. Mrs. Winter, The Feather Fairy, rules the world and also raises little Jacob, who almost died in an avalanche. The little boy is immortal, he doesn’t get older. Even though his life is perfect he watches human life through a looking glass. He sees a young girl Alžbetka growing into a young lady, and he desires to be a normal person and live with her.

12 Famous people Peter Sagan is a professional road bicycle racer. Only 26 years old Sagan is considered one of cycling's greatest talents, having earned many prestigious victories. Jana Kirschner is a Slovak singer.  Adriana Sklenaříková Karembeu Adriana is a Slovak fashion model and actress. She is a former Guinness record holder for the longest legs among female models. Andy Warhol Artist, parents from Slovakia Dominika Cibulková is a professional Slovak tennis player currently ranked world No. 5 by the Women´s Tennis Association (WTA). Marián Hossa Hockey player

13 KOŠICE is the second largest city in Slovakia
KOŠICE is the second largest city in Slovakia. It is located in the eastern part of Slovakia, not far from the borders with Hungary, Ukraine and Poland. The city spreads across the Košice Basin in tke wide valley of the river Hornád.

14 Sightseeing St. Elisabeth Cathedral - this is the largest Gothic cathedral in Slovakia, and also the second largest in Central and Eastern Europe. St. Michael Chapel originally the old cemetery. Singing fountain and State Theatre Košice -musical fountain and carillon are unique, modern attractions of Kosice. They are located in the park between the State Theatre and the St. Elisabeth Cathedral.

15 International Peace Marathon
The oldest European peace marathon is organized in Košice every first Sunday in October, when the city attracts the best marathon runners in the world. Even non-professional runners can try their luck in half-marathon or mini-marathon, special marathon for physically disabled athletes on wheelchairs and hand bikes is organized as well.

16 OUR SCHOOL Our school is situated close to the city centre. It's a big and old school with a school canteen, two gyms and a swimming pool. Nowadays about 530 pupils attend the school and 40 teachers work in here.

17 We provide PRIMARY EDUCATION and LOWER SECONDARY EDUCATION in one building. * Primary classes are from the 1st to the 4th class. There are pupils from the age of 6 to * Lower-secondary classes are from the 5th to the 9th class. There are pupils from the age of 11 to 15.

18 School year lasts 10 months from September to June and it consists of two terms. Lessons begin at 8 o'clock and finish in the afternoon at about 2 o'clock. They take 45 minutes. When the lessons finish, children at primary school can spend their time in the afternoon clubs. They do their homework, play games or draw here  

19 There are many successful pupils in our school.
They participate in various activities and competitions in sports, Literature, Art, Maths, languages and other subjects. We also very often join many events in our town – Košice. And of course we love going to school trips, it is the best time we all spend together!
