Credit Requirements for Course Completion * Research Subjects: Doctoral Degree – Up to 9 credits / Combined Master’s & Doctoral – Up to 12 credits * Master’s students have to complete 24 credits until third semester Required Subjects - Global Subjects: Master’s and PhD – min. 3 credits, Combined – min. 6 credits - IT Thesis Subjects: IT English Paper - 2 credits, IT Technical Seminar - 1 credit - Safety Instruction: 2 times a year while in school by online (safety.skku.edu) or offline Course Registration - Credit Limit: 9 credits per semester (PhD students are allowed to take 12 credits within first and second semesters, Combined students are able to take 12 credits in first semester.) 8 Academic Requirements Qualifying Exams
Foreign Language Exam Passing the College Foreign Language Exam or submitting English /Korean Test scores satisfying the pass marks as below, is required for thesis/dissertation defenses. - Application Period: 1st semester – March / 2nd semester – September - College FLE Exam: English (Passing mark: 70 or above) - Official Test Scores for Passing (Replacement) FLE *TEPS: It is an English TEST that Seoul National University Language Institute develops in order to measure practical English proficiency. For more information, refer to the webpage at ** TOPIK: It stands for Test of Proficiency in Korean. National Institute of International Education organizes and administers. As the 1st author, he/she publishes one or more on the SCI(E) and the following total point should be above 1 point. (Entirely 2 points and more) SCI(E) thesis : 1 point International Publication: 0.2 point International Patent: 1 points Domestic Patent: 0.3 Points A-class journal of Korea: 0.3 points SCOPUS journal: 0.3 points Same as PhD ** Course Grade: In case you could NOT meet the above requirements, you must produce the following publication requirements: Master’s  one more publication requirement, and PhD and Combined  +1 SCI(E) paper

11 Academic Requirements Thesis/Dissertation
Thesis Defense Procedures for Master’s 1. Online Submission and Review (Uploading Site: Uploading Preliminary and Main Thesis during the designated period of each term 2. Oral Defense 1) Presentation and Review on site 2) Revision of the Thesis according to the Committee’s Comments 3) Completion of Revising Report 3. Written Defense = Submission of Revising Report Schedule Procedures Spring Fall Paper Uploading 1st week of May 1st week of Nov. Submission Deadline of Hardcopy Thesis/Dissertation 2nd week of July 2nd week of Jan. Both Master’s and PhD candidates should submit three hardcopies of final Thesis/Dissertation to the Office of Graduate School.

12 Academic Regulations & Procedures
Registration and Legal Status In every year, the registration period is schedule the 3rd week of February and August respectively. Tuition bill of each semester can be printed out by login the GLS system. You have to take a registration procedure each semester by submitting a tuition bill to Woori Bank regardless of tuition waived. Dismissal (by no enrollment)  If not registered by a due date, your legal status may be disqualified and must leave the country within 2 weeks. Leave of Absence International students may NOT be allowed to take a Leave of Absence except only a reason of health issue. - Max. of 2 semesters (1 year) at a time allowed - Master’s and PhD -Total 3 semesters, Combined – Total 6 semesters - Extension of Leave of Absence (in GLS) - Returning: Apply in GLS and take a visa process by contacting International Office. - Unless you are returning within the designated semester, your student status at SKKU will be dismissed according to the University’s regulations.

Grading System F (Fail), I (Incomplete) - Incomplete Grade: The ‘I’(incomplete) is restricted to cases in which the graduate students have satisfactorily completed a substantial part of the course work. No credit will be given until the course is completed and a passing grade received. Transcript and Certificate Issuance Services You may order transcripts and Certificates of your academic record at the University Registrar’s Office, located in the Student Center. Transcript issuing fee is set at 1000KRW per copy. (The University Registrar can provide written confirmation of registration, enrollment, degree status and other certificates. Amendment of Student’s Record A student may ask the University to amend the record that he/she believes is inaccurate or misleading. The student should submit the petition for amendment of the record to the relevant administrative office. Clearly identify the part of the records he/she wants changed, and specify why it should be changed. Grades GPA A+ 4.5 C+ 2.5 A 4.0 C 2.0 B+ 3.5 D+ 1.5 B 3.0 D 1.0

14 Campus Life On-campus Housing (University Dormitory)
Ui-gwan and Shin-gwan are eligible for international students. The range of room rates is from KRW 1,254,320 to 1,783,810. Detailed information regarding housing procedures will be available at the dormitory office. (Website: Off-campus Housing (One-room or Boarding house) Boarding House (Hasukjib): Two meals are provided a day. This is one of traditional housing cultures in the university areas. You can experience authentic cultures of Korean universities. One-room: As a rented single one flat room, most of appliances and cookers are furnished. Student ID Card Student Affairs Office provides ID card issuance service. The office is located 1st floor of the Student Center. To get issued the ID card, you should bring the following required documents: Application form, Alien Registration Card, A Copy of Photo Health Insurance The International Office provides students with detailed information about health insurance subscription and procedures.

About 1 hour would be taken. By taxi, the fare is around 13,000 won.
