Mission Earth: Fusing GLOBE with NASA Assets to Build Systemic Innovation in STEM Education Monthly Status (December) Updates/Changes Updates/Changes (con’t) EVALUATION: Reviewing the feedback received at the yearly meeting from Mary Sladek Collaboration with all teams about the classroom observation protocol that will be used (given the additional options that have been provided after the evaluation plan was submitted) Decision and planning for the evaluators to be trained in the HORIZON protocol in order to use it for the classroom observations for all teams THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO: Engaging the community in the bi-weekly webinars. Webinars 5, 6 & 7 can be found at Doing school visits; assisting their teachers in student trainings and collecting data for GLOBE Presented a poster on GME at AGU Conference in San Francisco WestEd/UC BERKELEY: Doing school visits; assisting their teachers in student trainings and collecting data for GLOBE Connected with teachers on December 15 via internet using Blue Jeans Recruiting schools in New Mexico for GLOBE training BOSTON UNIVERSITY: Problem solving issues with the Davis Weather Stations TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY: Planning the professional development for area high school teachers to take place next year Celebrated GIS day via LIVE on Facebook NASA Langley Research Center Provided GLOBE training for after school programs Presented to our team their work with vertical integration of NASA Data Provided updates on the new GLOBE Cloud Protocol PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT/SUPPORT WORKING GROUP: Provided input to UT on GLOBE Mission EARTH spring webinar series Working on vertical integration of GLOBE and NASA into the curriculum with STEM as the framework Identifying where GLOBE and NASA fit in the Career Tech Ed Standards EVALUATION WORKING GROUP: Discussing classroom observation protocols ENGINEERING WORKING GROUP Provided a summary of the Implementation the engineering projects at Boston University and the University of Toledo Working on engineering practices for K-12 PRE-SERVICE WORKING GROUP Provided a summary of what was done this semester and shared plans for the next semester on implementing GLOBE into pre-service and graduate education Co- PI Meetings Weekly on Thursdays via Zoom Langley

Mission Earth: Fusing GLOBE with NASA Assets to Build Systemic Innovation in STEM Education Monthly Status (December) Areas to Watch Cross-Collaboration Status Establishing web presence on GLOBE website Increasing the number of webinars on YouTube channel Disseminating GLOBE and NASA information on our Facebook page: UT Professional Development (July 10-14)– recruiting teams of teachers (grades K – 8) from the same school or feeder pattern to do Elementary GLOBE and to explore and develop the vertical integration piece Updated Cloud Protocol with NASA Satellite Match to start in January 2017 Solar Eclipse – preparing equipment boxes with IRT and air temperature thermometers (with instructions) to be sent out to libraries and schools to collect GLOBE data during the solar eclipse Look Ahead GLOBE Mission EARTH Webinars starting up again on January 25 at 8:00 pm EST GLOBE Professional Development for Nashville teachers GLOBE Mission EARTH Partners attending TTT and/or NARM in Fayetteville, AR in January, 2017 GLOBE Mission EARTH yearly meeting with Advisory Committee on January 13 and 14, 2017 UT presenting at UT’s Saturday Science Series in Spring 2017 Langley
