1 Judge Rightly Matthew 7:1-5, 12

2 Matthew 7:1-5 "Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

3 Matthew 7:12 So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

4 Matthew 7:1-5 "Judge not, that you be not judged.

5 “Do not judge in order that you will not be judged”
Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge in order that you will not be judged”

6 Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge in order that you will not be judged”
(If I don’t judge others then God won’t judge me?)

7 Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge in order that you will not be judged”
(If I don’t judge others then God won’t judge me?) Problem: We will all be judged (2Cor 5:10, Rom 14:10)

8 Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge in order that you will not be judged”
(If I don’t judge others then God won’t judge me?) Problem: We will all be judged (2Cor 5:10, Rom 14:10) and We must judge (7:5!, 1Cor5:12b)

9 “Do not judge [others] in order that you will not be judged”
Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge [others] in order that you will not be judged” (Don’t assume that by judging others you will escape your own judgement)

10 Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge [others] in order that you will not be judged” (Don’t judge others in order to escape your own judgement)

11 Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge [others] in order that you will not be judged” (Don’t judge others in order to escape your own judgement) …because “with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you” (2)

12 Judging like God or man You can Judge in the likeness of God,
Or God can judge in the likeness of you

13 Judging like God or man You can Judge in the likeness of God,
Or God can judge in the likeness of you As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon your own head (Oba 1:15) For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment (James 2:13)

14 Judging like God or man The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation." (Exo 34:6-7)

15 Judging like God or man Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you Eph 4:32

16 God judges with mercy and grace.
Judging like God or man Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you Eph 4:32 God judges with mercy and grace. Be careful lest you Scorn mercy, Seek condemnation, and Receive it!

17 “do not judge” “Judge”= Condemn. see Luke 6:37-38
Judge not, and you will not be judged; Condemn not, and you will not be condemned; Forgive, and you will be forgiven; Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.
