Asking an adult for help or telling them if there is something wrong.

5. EYFS Communication & Language Literacy
Speaking - Children express themselves effectively, use tenses accurately, develop their own narratives and explanations.
Listening and attention - Children listen attentively in a range of situations, respond to stories, making comments or asking questions.
Understanding – Children follow instructions involving several ideas or actions. They answer ‘how’ and ‘why’ questions about their experiences and in response to stories or events.
Phonics – Phonics is taught daily using Jolly Phonics songs and actions. Children learn single letter sounds, followed by simple digraphs.
Reading - Children read and understand simple sentences. Use phonetic knowledge to decode regular words, as well as reading common irregular words.
Writing – Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways, which match their spoken sounds. They also write some irregular common words. They write simple sentences, which can be read by themselves and others.
Help from home – Read at least 4 times a week and sign the diary. Share library books. Read and practise writing sounds and keywords each week. Support with homework tasks.
