3 Fashion-Steven Meisel
Living Green Makeover Madness Face the Future This type of photography is dedicated to clothing and other beauty/fashion products, it normally is featured in fashion magazines and advertisements. Steven Meisel, born 5th June 1954 (aged 62) is a fashion photographer from the United States. He specialises in contemporary fashion. He has worked for many Fashion Magazines and Companies such as: Vogue, Calvin Klein, Miu Miu, Versace, Marc Jacobs, Yves Saint Laurent and many more. Most of his images are black and white. He is most known for his work with American and Italian vogue. A well known series of his is ‘living green’, which features in Vogue magazine. An image that was a part of this series is placed above. In this image it shows two woman working- one is sweeping and the other is arranging flowers. Their clothing shows that they are in the past and the fact that it’s black and white emphasises this and makes it clearer. This depicts what a woman would be doing at the time (being a housewife). The woman with the broom is by the door staring out, looking wistful. This how’s what many women were feeling at the time; they wanted to be free and do their own thing’s at their own will.
