In The Past… The American Association of University Women report between , about 35% of computing professionals were women Today... As of 2013, female computing professionals has declined to 26% The National Center for Women & Information Technology reports only 18% of students graduating with a bachelors in computer and information sciences are women

7 Hewlett Packard Internal Report
Hewlett Packard conducted research to figure out how to get more women in top management positions Report found that women only applied for promotions when they met 100% of the criteria listed for the job, while men applied once they met 60% of the job requirements

8 Solution: YOU!! When encountering IT job opportunities, look at the transferrable skills and abilities you have versus the ones you don’t. Examples of transferable skills include, but aren’t limited to: Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work Ability to work as a team Ability to make decisions and problem solve Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with computer software programs Transferable skills can serve as a strong foundation in achieving the overarching goals of most positions
