1 We will go over how to upload your file into canvas together.
Complete your WANTED Posters for both the High and Low Pressure systems. We will go over how to upload your file into canvas together.

2 Wanted Poster Requirements
You are making two posters. The name and a picture of the Pressure Systems. The way they circulate (clockwise or counterclockwise). The type of weather they bring (fair or rainy). If they converge or diverge. They also need a reward.

3 APK: Globe Analogy Look at the globe. Answer on Nearpod.
Where would you expect to find the coldest areas on Earth? What about the hottest areas? Why?

4 EQ: What are the 4 fronts? Listen to me read the EQ. Tell me the EQ.
How many fronts are we learning about today?

5 Guided Practice What causes different types of weather?
When air masses, fronts, & pressure systems interact.

6 Question Weather is caused by air masses, fronts, and pressure systems interacting. True or False?

7 Fronts As these air masses move and collide with each other, fronts form at the boundaries between the air masses. Depending upon the air masses involved, a warm front, cold front, stationary front, or occluded front can develop. Illustrate and color the picture below in your notes.

8 What are the four types of fronts?
Question What are the four types of fronts?

9 WARM FRONT When a warm air mass collides and rides over a cold mass, the resulting warm front may produce long periods of precipitation and warmer temps.

10 What is the definition of a warm front?
Question What is the definition of a warm front?

11 COLD FRONT When a cold air mass collides and slides under a warm air mass, the resulting cold front may produce thunderstorms & sometimes tornadoes & cooler temps.

12 QUESTION What happens to the cold air mass in a cold front?

13 STATIONARY FRONT When neither a cold air mass or a warm air mass moves at a frontal boundary, the resulting stationary front may produce long, gentle periods of precipitation.

14 Question What type of weather does a stationary front bring?

15 OCCLUDED FRONT When a cold air mass pushes into a warm air mass that is behind a cool air mass, the warm air mass is pushed up above the cooler air masses. The resulting occluded front may produce strong winds & heavy precip. ONLY FRONT W/ 3 AIR MASSES.

16 Questions A stationary front is the only front with 3 air masses… YES or NO Which air mass has 3 fronts?

17 Video – Animated Fronts

18 CLOSURE Answer the EQ on Nearpod.
Once you are finished you are to complete your study guide homework.

19 Independent Practice 10 Question Quiz – Open Notes
Socrative: Room Name = Conger After you have finished your quiz you are to work on your weather booklet. On the fronts page define each front, list the type of weather for each, draw a colored symbol for each. Water Cycle Page, Weather Maps, Weather Tools, Clouds and Precipitation pages can be completed. Make sure you read the rubric.
