These pieces of homework will cover all of the subjects that the children cover at school, Maths, English (Writing), ICT, DT, ART, Geography, Science & History. This will allow them to explore Topics to a greater depth & build their knowledge of that topic from different view points. In addition to the Homework grid, children will be given 1 piece of SPAG homework from the Yr. 3 & Yr. 4 Booklets, class teachers will chose these activities each week & the children will have 1 week to complete them. Weekly spellings will be given that are based on a Spelling Rule that is relevant for that Year Group. We will also expect the children to Regularly practise their Reading, Times Tables & Number Bonds, to support & develop their classroom work throughout the year.

Equipment All children will be expected to have a small, clearly NAMED pencil case with named : pencils ruler rubber pencil sharpener glue stick If they wish to have their own coloured pencils, they also need to be named. Please note that the children are expected to be responsible for their own items and the renewal of them.

Change! The pace of life in Key Stage 2 is very different to Key Stage 1. Some children take a few weeks to adjust. Please be aware of this. Children moving from Year 2 to Year 3/4 classes will need to adapt in the following ways: They may find the first few weeks intense and feel quite tired as a result. This passes very quickly, if it happens at all. Most children take to being a junior very easily and are raring to go from the first day! Please communicate with your child’s teacher if there is an issue that we can help with /need to know about. Behaviour expectations: As Juniors the children will be encouraged from the start to be very independent and take charge themselves of systems such as changing books and handing in homework – we appreciate your support with this, and hope you can encourage them to do this.

Classrooms Otter and Koala class –situated within the main building opposite the Junior fenced playground. Children by next Monday will know their classes and have already had the opportunity to meet their new teacher and classmates. Transition between teachers is already happening where relevant information is passed on and discussed. This is for all children and the SENCO is also involved in this process for children with SEN.

A few other things… Children in Key Stage 2 are not provided with free fruit at break-times. You can send your child in with a Healthy snack for break time e.g.: fruit, raisins, vegetable sticks (not crisps or chocolate covered cereal bars!) OR you can give them a maximum of 50p and they can buy one drink and one food item from the tuck shop.
