10 Elem 4 - Acknowledgements
Please read and sign the acknowledgements page of the application which states: My signature below indicates that: I understand that all documents are to be turned in at one time. Files that are not complete will not be considered for admission. The information which I have provided on all forms is, to the best of my knowledge, the truth. I understand that admission to the Tarleton Teacher Education Program is highly competitive. Meeting or exceeding minimum admission standards as outlined in the Admission Standards and Procedures does not in any way imply or guarantee admission to the program. I understand that admission and certification requirements for the Tarleton Teacher Education Program changed based on legislation and Texas Education Code and these changes were approved by the Tarleton Educator Preparation Council. Even though the Degree Works evaluation may state that a 2.6 is required overall, in professional development courses (EDUC, etc.), and in certification areas, beginning Fall 2014, these GPA requirements changed to My signature below indicates that I understand the implications of the change in GPA requirements that are currently stated in DegreeWorks from 2.6 to 2.75.

11 Departmental Screening
Each student is required to pass a departmental screening. Each department conducts their own screening, so do not use the instructions from any other certification area. Check with the department, the C&I website, or your advisor for Departmental Screening information. Stephenville based students - watch for signs in the Education Building with instructions on how to sign up for your departmental screening interview. Fort Worth and Waco based students – contact your advisors to obtain the information as to how to sign up for the departmental screening interview. If you do not pass the departmental screening, you will receive a letter from the C&I department. This will automatically result in your denial of admission into the Teacher Education Program.

12 Certificate Plans Find your Certificate Plan by clicking on Certifications Offered. Although not required as part of the application, your certificate plan can be a great tool to use to view your current GPAs, what-if GPAs, and also see all coursework required listed on one page.

13 Certificate plan instructions
The Certificate Plan will open as an Excel worksheet. Fill in your name and ID number. Using your transcript or Degree Evaluation from myGateway, input your letter grades into the appropriate boxes. Please use caps lock. Your GPAs will be automatically calculated for you at the bottom of the sheet. Once completed, save and print. If a class has been taken, that grade must be entered, even if it is a D or an F. (Make sure to check Unused Courses at the bottom of your Degree Evaluation.) If you have taken a class that is not on the certificate plan, it can only be used if you have electives listed. At the end of the application semester, the Program Specialist for Certification will redo your Certificate Plan and update all grades. If a class has been taken more than once, the highest grade will be used.

14 WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? At the end of the application semester, certificate plans will be updated and all admission requirements will be checked for completion (listed on checklist). If any requirement has not been met, the application will be denied. A denial letter will be mailed out and if the student has enrolled in EDUC 3330, they will be sent an stating they are not eligible to take the class. If the student does not drop the class, their instructor will be notified to ask them to leave. The student will need to reapply with a new application. If all admission requirements have been met, the student’s name will go on an admissions report that is presented to the Educator Preparation Council for a final vote on the Friday before the next semester is to begin. Students are then notified by that Tarleton State University is offering admission into the Teacher Education Program. Students must send back a reply either accepting or rejecting the offer of admission. This must be completed ASAP, so it is important to watch for this . (Date will be listed on website.) A hard copy admission letter will follow in the mail.
