California Newspaper Project
Multi-year microfilm preservation and cataloging project. Focus on Californian newspapers, including ethnic ones. One Indian-American and one Pakistani-American English language newspaper selected for microfilming from UC Berkeley holdings. Allowed us to spend funds on microfilming non-CA titles.

Non-English Titles and Future Strategies?
Quite a few new non-English newspapers have started in the past twenty years. In California prominent Languages include: Panjabi in Gurmukhi script, Hindi, Urdu and Tamil. Gurmukhi Panjabi papers important for long established Sikh immigrant community and reflect, among other things, debates about Khalistan. Electronic back-files instead of paper copies?
