1 Melvindale High School
Prom Dress Code

2 Purpose This slideshow is intended as a supplementary guideline for students shopping for formal prom attire. Students must still submit a signed Dress Code Acknowledgement form. The dress code was designed by a committee of students/staff/and administrators in order to accommodate the district code of conduct, student sensibilities, and trends in fashion.

3 Why a dress code? Social Guidepost – It is polite to guests and lets them know what kind of occasion it is and how to dress properly. Sense of Occasion – Guests’ dress can add or detract from the event, dressing down takes away from everyone’s experience Considerate to the host – The host puts a great deal of effort into planning a prom, it is an insult to not dress appropriately.

4 Melvindale High School Code of Conduct
“Excessively tight, short, or loose fitting clothing that excessively reveals or highlights the torso or undergarments are not permitted including but not limited to spandex-like attire, etc.”
