1 Dashboard GUI

2 Introduction of Netstorm Dashboard GUI
NetStorm Dashboard offers a simple and detailed view into the data and statistics associated with the tests presently running and tests ran in the past. Dashboard is also known as Execution GUI.

3 Steps to Login Netstorm GUI and Start Scenario
 Open any web browser and type the address in address bar: We will get the screen as shown below

4 Enter the User ID and Password In the Login screen, and click on Sign-In button.

5 After Login we will get the below screen
After Login we will get the below screen.  Select “Scenarios” under Test Design Tab.

6 After Selecting scenario will show the listing of available scenarios on the selected server, as shown below:

7 Click on Start Button (forward arrow), next to the Scenario Name to start the test.

8 Upon clicking Start button Dashboard GUI will launch
Upon clicking Start button Dashboard GUI will launch. User can also launch Dashboard GUI from Test Run Window, by simply clicking on Test Run number.

9 Setting-Up Dashboard GUI Options
After starting a test, a Test Run Number is generated. This Test Run number is always Unique and is used to access all the information relating to that particular Test. The Dashboard is capable of displaying the progress and execution statistics for a particular Test in both Online and Offline Mode. Online Mode – For a Test presently in its running state, NetStorm will open its progress and execution statistics in Online mode. Offline Mode – For a Test which has completed its execution, NetStorm will open its progress and execution statistics in Offline mode.

10 After the test has started or after the test is completed, User can open Test Run Dashboard GUI by simply clicking on corresponding Test Run Number on test run window. Dashboard GUI will be shown as below: Top Pane Right Pane Left Pane Bottom Pane

11 Layout Of Dashboard GUI
Dashboard GUI is categorized in following four Panes: Top Pane Left pane Right Pane Bottom Pane And it also contains a Menu bar.

13 Description of Top Pane Items

14 Detailing of Some Top Pane Items
Stop : “Stop” stops the currently executing Test. The message “Stop Running Test Run” is display in the Tool Tip of this option. This option is only available in Online Mode. Test Output: This shows the output of the Running Test Run and also shows the message “View Test Run Output” in the Tool Tip. The Test Output is look like.

15 Event logs: An occurrence or happening of significant task or program, such as the completion of an asynchronous input/output operation. A task may wait for an event or any of a set of events or it may (request to) receive asynchronous notification (a {signal} or {interrupt}) that the event has occurred. We can see Event Log from View Menu. Details of Event Log is explained Later. Transaction Details: This shows the details of the Transactions in the current Test Run. Transactions are added to measure the response time of a particular logical action do by the user. We can see Transaction Details from View Menu. Details of Transaction Details is explained Later.

16 Left Pane Fine Points related to Left Pane:
Left Pane contains a Tree like structure. Parent nodes in left pane are Test Metrics , Custom Metrics (for merge graphs), System Metrics and Application Metrics. System Metric and Application Metrics node is visible only when user is using System and Application Monitors. User can select any Parent node categorizes for particular type of statistics. User can also select any child node of a particular Parent.

Test Metrics: This contains all the default groups of the Graphs including Transaction Group (if any). System Metrics: This contains all the System Graphs like Process Stats, TCP States Count etc. Application Metrics: This contains all the Application related graphs like Java Garbage Collection etc. Custom Metrics: This contains the set of graphs that are added by user from same group or different group. If user not adding any graph in Custom Metrics section then it contains the Default Parent & Default Child.

To open the pop-up menu, right click in left pane. Following pop-up menu will emerge:

Show Description – This shows the description of selected graph or all graphs of selected Group Open All – This show all graphs of selected group on right pane (graph panel). If number of graphs is greater than number of visible graph panels then prev/next image enable. To view all graphs click on “next” image on top panel. Activate/Inactivate – User can activate/inactivate graphs except “Active System graphs” Merge all Instances – This will merge all instances of different groups. Monitors – This is enable only in online mode. This option is used to start/restart/stop monitors used in current Test

20 Right Pane Right Pane contains the graph Panels (each Panel shows either the graph or group of graphs). Maximum number of Panels is 32. By Default we get 9 Panel is selected.

21 Detailing of Right Pane
Panel is the component of Right Pane. Each Panel shows the Graph(s). The maximum number of Panel is 32. User may choose any number of Panel (i.e. - less than 32 and greater than 0) to be displayed in the Right Pane. User may be drag any Graph or group of Graph in the Panel (from Left Pane) User may zoom any graph Panel. In a Panel there are maximum 40 samples and will be displays for a single Graph, if the sample is increases 40 than Averaging is occur. Each Panel having the following functionality (that appears after Right Click on it).

Properties: This open the “Chart Properties” window, the screen contain the following option –

Plot- This option also contain the following option- Domain Axis General Label: Chose the Label of X-axis. Font: Chose the Font of the Label of X-axis. Paint: Chose the Color of the Label of X-axis Label Insets: Tick Insets: Other Ticks: Range Axis Label: Chose the Label of Y-axis. Font: Chose the Font of the Label of Y-axis. 25 Appearance General Insets: Outline Stroke: Chose the Thickness of Outline. Outline Paint: Chose the Color of Outline. Background Paint: Chose the Background Color. Other Background Paint: Chose the Color of Plane. Series Paint: No Editor Implemented. Series Stroke: No Editor Implemented. Series Outline Paint: No Editor Implemented. Series Outline Stroke: No Editor Implemented.

26 Print: This will prints the Graph or Group of Graphs of the selected Panel. Before printing it will save the pdf file of that Graph. Graph Time and X-Axis value: This property is set by user with the help of dialog box (whether he/she want to apply it to all Visible panels or selected panels). Once the property is set it is unchanged in that Panel until it is further modified.

27 Graph Time Last 60 secs: This shows the Graph data of last 60 seconds in graph series.

28 Continue…. Last 180 secs: This show the Graph data of last 180 seconds in graph series. 600 secs: This shows the Graph data of last 600 seconds in graph series. Last 3600 secs: This shows the Graph data of last 3600 seconds in graph series. Whole Scenario: This shows the Graph data of Total Run Time. (Default)

29 X - Axis Value Elapsed Time: Elapsed Time is displayed on the X-Axis; it is started from 00:00:00. (Default) The Elapsed Time is look like.

30 Absolute Time: Absolute Time is displayed on the X-Axis and it shows the time of system.

31 Show 1 Graph: This shows 1 graph Panel in the Right Pane.
View Graphs Show 1 Graph: This shows 1 graph Panel in the Right Pane. Show 2 Graphs: This shows 2 graph Panels in the Right Pane. Show 4 Graphs: This shows 4 graph Panels in the Right Pane. Show 8 Graphs: This shows 8 graph Panels in the Right Pane. Show 16 Graphs: This shows 16 graph Panels in the Right Pane. Custom Number: This shows the custom number (number should be less than 32 and greater than 0) of Panels in the Right Pane. continue…

32 Snapshot for Custom Number:
User may also be set the number of rows and column of the Displayed Panels.

33 Detail Panel Show Data of Selected Panel Only: This shows the data of Selected Panel only in Lower Pane. Show Data of All Displayed Graphs: This shows the data of all displayed Graph in Lower Pane. Compare - This option is used to compare values of two test runs. It explained in detail later.

34 Phase Marker: This option is enabling only when test gets completed
Phase Marker: This option is enabling only when test gets completed. This is used to show the different phases on graph panel (i.e. Start Up , Ramp UP , Duration, Stabilization & Ramp Down) Applied “RAMPDOWN” Phase Marker

35 Show in Tree: This option is used to show selected graphs in left pane.
Debug Flag On: Debug flag is on it will display all the information on the console. By default Debug flag is On. Off: Debug flag is off it will not display any information on the console. Resolution: This is used to change resolution (time duration between two samples) of selected or all visible graphs. User can see resolution below x-axis value in graph panel. Undo zoom – This is enable only after zooming that selected graph.

36 Graph Type: This is used to change the graph type of selected or all visible graphs
Percentile Graph – Only that graph which has entries in .pdf file can be converted into Percentile Graph. Like “Average URL Response Time” , “Average Page Response Time” , “Average Session Response Time” , “Average Transaction Response Time” , “Transaction Time” etc. Time Series Graph – This is the default type of graph. Dial Graph – User can apply or update Dial Graph.

37 Bottom Pane Bottom Pane shows the data of Graphs, either in the Active Panel or all displayed graphs in Tabular format. These data are shows in following fields- Color: This shows the colors of Graph. Scale: This shows the current scaling factor of selected Graph with respect to the first graph. Graph Name: This shows the Name of Graphs. Minimum: This shows the Minimum value of data Sample of Graph. Maximum: This show the Maximum value of data Sample of Graph. Average: This show the average of all data Samples of Graph. Last: This show the Last value of data Sample of Graph. Samples: This show total number of samples.

38  Sorting On Each Column: Clicking on header part of each column sorting will occur.
Graph Selection: Click on the graph on lower pane, it highlights that graph in the selected graph Panel and vice versa. As shown below :

Hide Selected: It hides the selected Graph from graph panel.

41 Show Selected: This is enabled only when any graph gets hide
Show Selected: This is enabled only when any graph gets hide. This shows data of selected graph that is hidden. Show Only Selected: This show the selected Graph only, in the selected Panel.

42 Show all: This show all Graphs in the selected Panel (this is the default selection).
Show Description : This is used to show description of selected graph(s)

43 Color : This option is used to change the color of selected graph (s) from lower pane
Select any color to show Select custom time and then choose any color for selected graph(s)

44 Components Of Dashboard
Open a particular graph To open a particular graph, choose any one of the following methods. Double Click on the graph – The right pane, by default opens 9 graphs in 3x3 matrixes. Double clicking on any graph name, will open the graph in the Right Pane at 1x1 positions. Drag and Drop -Click and hold the graph and then drag it to the right pane – Click desired graph name, and then drag it to the position (e.g. 1x3) you wish to view the graph on. Enlarged view for a graph – Open a particular graph on the right pane using, any of the above mentioned two methods. Then double click on that particular graph, to open in the enlarged mode. Zooms a particular graph – To zoom on a particular graph, first open the graph using 1 or 2. Then open it in enlarged mode using 3. Now, Left Click, hold and then drag the mouse pointer on the across graph to Zoom on the graph for the particular time.

46 Steps to Get Event Log Click Event Log link on Top Pane. Available Event Log window will appear as shown below.

47 Double Click the Event you wish to see. Event Detail window will appear.

48 Transaction Details Any sequence of page clicks may be grouped as a transaction. Transactions are added to measure the response time of a particular logical action do by the user.

49 Steps to Get Transaction Details
Click Transaction Details link on Top Pane. Available Transaction Details window will appear. Transaction Detail is only shown if Transactions are added in Script that is used in Test or Scenario.

50 Comparison of Two Test Runs
This shows the compared data of selected graphs of two Test Runs. On selecting “Compare” menu, “Compare selection” window displayed.

51 Entries of Compare window
Scenario Name: Enter any/All Scenario name. Compare Test: Select compare test which you want to compare. Test Phase: Select Phase name (enable only in offline mode). Start Time: Enter start time in “hh:min:sec” format. End Time: Enter enter time in “hh:min:sec” format. Resolution: Select resolution according to need. Panel Selection: Apply for Selected Panels Apply for visible panels

54 Virtual User Trace This is used for tracing the Users for different group(s) in online mode. For debugging purpose To check script is run properly. To get the data for selected user and will show all pages which has been executed.

55 Steps to Get Virtual User trace
Click on the “View” menu, to Virtual User Trace Window. Click Virtual User Trace. Available Virtual User Trace window will appear.

56 Select the group (One group at one time).
Clicks on “User Trace” button in Available User Trace window. This will get the data for any User (randomly selected) of that particular group, and it will show all pages which has been executed till that time.

57 To see the session detail, select “Start Session (ScriptName - TestTrans)” or “End Session”

58 Steps For Correlation Select a single graph as shown below:

59 Now Zoom the above graph.

60 Move your mouse pointer to any peak and the Right-Click on it

63 Content of Correlation Window
This window contains 2 frames: Graph Info Frame Baseline Graph: Graph Name which we wants to correlate. Correlation Threshold: Threshold for correlation. Include Anti Correlation: Comparing the baseline graphs with Anti graphs also. Radio buttons for option All Graphs and Selected Graphs Select Graph(s) to Correlate Frame Dropdown for Select Group Name available for this Test Run. Text Box contains Graphs Name belongs to selected group. Add button to add graphs from available graphs. Remove button to remove graphs from Selected Graphs Text Box. Text box for displaying Selected Graphs.

Put all values as default, select All Graphs and then click on Correlation Button as shown below:

66 Put all values as default, select All Graphs, check Anti correlation and then click on Correlation Button as shown below:

69 Select graph and then click on Add Button then click on Correlate.
