Once a specific REGION is selected the Data Validity Summary will update to show a comparison of all the organisations within the selected REGION
Where a specific PROVIDER or COMMISSIONER is then selected, this will be highlighted on the bar chart as above

This will provide more detailed data validity information on the data set for the selected REGION/PROVIDER/COMMISSIONER
Return to the Front Screen at any time by clicking on the first tab

The table to the left is displaying data validity information for the selected organisation’s data items
All dashboard data represents the cumulative year to date position
The RAG symbols in the ‘Provider % Valid’ column indicate the relative position of the selected organisation against the ‘National % Valid’ (See the key below the table for more details)
The symbols in the ‘Change v M1’ column illustrate how the data validity level has changed since the previous monthly update (See the key below the table for more details)

The Data Item Information box contains details of the selected data item and the validation rules
Click on a data item within the table to update the Data Item Information box
Where a ! symbol appears alongside the data item name, this indicates that the data item is not validated for all records (see the Data Item Information box for details)

The Time Series Chart shows the year to date % valid for the selected data item, as at each reporting month, in a rolling 12 month cycle
Click on a different data item within the table to update the Time Series Chart
To view the Time Series Chart for the data item currently selected in the table, click the button highlighted below
To return to the Summary Chart click the button highlighted below

By clicking on the button highlighted above you can also view a breakdown of the errors. This categorises the errors by whether they are due to a ‘Blank’ or an ‘Incorrect Value’
The sum of the ‘Blank’ and ‘Incorrect Value’ errors should always equal the ‘Provider Invalid’ figure

The Maternity, Critical Care and PROMS Data Quality Dashboards produced by NHS Digital function in a very similar way to this dashboard so you should now be able to navigate your way around these dashboards also.
