AVID The AVID college readiness system is a school-wide transformational effort focused on rigor, leadership, responsibility and culture. It is designed to increase the number of students who enroll and succeed in higher education and in their lives beyond high school. At CVCHS 9th grade students can select this as one of their elective courses!

AVID Statistics Regardless of ethnicity or economic background, AVID students complete courses required for admission into four-year college or universities at a rate higher than their peers. Approximately 89% of AVID students complete the high school a-g requirements for UC and CSU acceptance. On average, 74% of AVID students are accepted to a four year college each year.

Summer Bridge to Success Program
College readiness and success for all students. Designed for high and low performing students. Two options for “Summer School”. Students can only enroll in ONE option- cannot do both. Optional program- not mandatory!

Upon completion students can earn 5 credits towards graduation.
College Preparedness (Online Enrichment) This course is only designed for students who have earned an “A” or “B” in English and an overall GPA of 3.5 or better. Students will have from June 19th until July 31st to complete 40 online articles using our school wide literacy program, Achieve 3000. High interest articles- approximately 35 hours of online work. Work can be completed from any device with an internet connection. Students MUST attend the on-site orientation on June 15th or 16th at CVCHS with Ms. Lovick to learn the program, sign the program contract and get their username & password. Upon completion students can earn 5 credits towards graduation.

Freshman Support (In-Class Skill Building) This course is designed for students who have earned a “C” or below in English or Math. Students will participate in an on-campus summer school program. They will receive support from our CVCHS staff in Math (Pre-Algebra/Algebra) and English. Students are not allowed to miss more than 2 days of the 19- day program and must make up missed work to receive credit. Students must get a ‘C’ or better on all classwork. No homework will be given. The program will take place from June 19th, 2016 until July 14th, 2017 from 8 am – 12:15 pm at CVCHS. No school 7/4. Upon completion students can earn 5 credits towards graduation.
