8 A level grades are made up 50% AS and 50% A2
Half of A levels this summer are ‘unreformed’ or ‘old’ A levels meaning AS exams can be retaken AS re – sits…. Are very important A level grades are made up 50% AS and 50% A2 Re – sit where you feel you can significantly improve the score, not the grade. eg AS score = 69/100 (69%) grade B Grade Boundary for an A grade = 70% STUDENT SHOULD NOT RE – SIT THIS EXAM TO GET AN A GRADE; THEY SHOULD RE – SIT IT BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY CAN GET SIGNIFICANTLY MORE MARKS Remember – Choose to do an AS re-sit to improve the score not the grade

9 Aim to maximise your marks
Student Student 2 (90%) A* (80%) A (70%) B (60%) C 1 2 A*A A A* A B 91% 96% 81% 88% 78% 84.3% 87.3% Remember – Choose to do an AS re-sit to improve the score not the grade

10 "If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got." Henry Ford ( ), American founder of the Ford Motor Company With losses of 730million DM, in 1991, Lufthansa Airlines was on the brink of collapse. Only 8 years later, in 1999, Jurgen Weber, Lufthansa's CEO reported record results in the whole of the airline's 70 year history. In the space of 8 years, the company moved from disaster to a pre-tax profit of 2.5 billion DM - a feat many would have believed unachievable. The Lufthansa experience has become a famous case study conducted by entities such as the London Business School. Lufthansa Airlines made changes instead of just carrying on with ‘the same old practices’.

11 Examples to be aware of Sacrificing part time work? Sacrificing a hobby? Making a choice? Easter Revision/ May half term; no holidays

12 Some Final thoughts Establish which AS modules are being re – sat Write down tonight 1 – 3 things that you are going to change to get the best grades you can No holidays at Easter/ May Half Term – Revision clinics at school. Ideally no more part time work. Effort grades should be 1s Start revising now Students - Ask for help if you’re feeling overwhelmed Parents – Try to be around and support/ challenge, bribe away…..
