The Lake spread over 100 acres, the lake looks arresting. The area around the lake lends itself to bivouacking.
In fact, no other water body between Chennai Central and Arakkonam, a distance of around 80 kms, has such a big lake.
At present, the open channels around the lake are being cleared of slush to ensure excess rainwater flows freely into the water body once the northeast monsoon sets in. Other developmental works will be carried out soon,” said a Corporation official.

4. Public Voices About Lake
Nearly 20 bore wells have been dug by the Ayapakkam panchayat around the bund of the lake to supply water to more than 70,000 residents.
When we had a conversation with the public about the Lake we got few shocking details.

More & More waste are present around the lake because of the residents. Those wastes are get into the lake & make them pollute.
The people who is living there are not using those water for drinking purpose since it has lot of garbage inside the lake but they do filter and use the water for bathing & washing.
Sewage are getting into the lake but the people around the area don’t have any knowledge about that since the Government closed long back but few of them were telling still the sewage is getting into the lake from few of the houses.
Since the water contain too much Calcium content it can’t be used for drinking purpose.
