Projects under Construction
WBPDCL is adding two extension units of 500 MW each which are under construction at Sagardighi TPS and are expected to commence generating power by 3rd quarter of 2016.
9
EER&M Programme WBPDCL has also taken R&M project for Bandel Unit #5 of 210 MW capacity under Energy Efficient Renovation & Modernization (EER&M) programme with world bank assistance.

Future Expansions 1. Sagardighi Thermal Power Project (Ph-III)
One no. 500 MW at Sagardighi TPP is proposed during the 12th five year plan. “In principle” clearance from the Government of West Bengal was received for the project. Draft DPR is also under preparation. The existing land at Sagardighi will be sufficient for the proposed project. Availability of Coal is from the Captive Coal Blocks.
11
Future Expansions : 2. Santaldih Thermal Power Station (Ph-III)
In Phase-III, 2 units of 660 MW at Santaldih TPS is proposed during the 12th & 13th five year plan. The project is under consideration by WBPDCL. The project will be constructed in place of 4 units of 120 MW capacity decommissioned.
12
Future Expansions : 3. Bakreswar Thermal Power Project (Ph-III) ‘In principle’ clearance from the Government of West Bengal was received for construction of one additional unit of 660 MW at Bakreswar Thermal Power Project.
