5 People began interpreting dreams as far back as 3000 BC.
In ancient times a dream was not just an extension of our minds and reality but a whole new more powerful world than the one we lived in. The ancient Greeks and Romans believed dreams had connections to religion. They were believed to be messages from Gods or from the dead. ©

6 They believed dreams predicted the future.
The people of this time believed dreams were messages telling them what to do. They believed dreams predicted the future. They even built shrines where people dreamt and where these dreams could be interpreted. Their belief in the power of a dream was so strong that it even influenced political and military decisions. ©

7 People who had vivid and wild dreams were seen as special and blessed.
In ancient Egypt, priest were seen as people who could interpret dreams. People who had vivid and wild dreams were seen as special and blessed. ©

8 The Chinese believed when we dream our soul leaves our body and goes into a new world.
However, they also believed if we were woken up suddenly our soul could fail to return back to our body, resulting in death. Even today some chinese people have superstitions about alarm clocks waking them up too quickly. ©

Native Americans and Mexicans believe that dreams allow us to connect to loved ones who have passed away. They believed that our ancestors live in our dreams. The see dreams as a way of communication with the spirit world. They also believe dreams give us a message about our destiny. ©

10 In the New Testament, Joseph receives a message from God that Mary is pregnant through a dream. Later, God also tells Joseph to leave Egypt with Mary and Jesus in a dream. ©

The positive dreams would slip through the hole in the center of the dream catcher, and glide down the feathers to the sleeping person below. The negative dreams would get caught up in the web, and expire when the first rays of the sun struck them. ©
