WIPO-INSME Training on Intellectual Property and Management of Innovation in Small and Medium sized Enterprises 11 – 13 May, 2005 in Geneva, Switzerland (in French & English) attended by 70 participants from 33 countries INSME-CFI Training on the Management of Innovation and Technology Transfer 5 – 8 July, 2005 in Buenos Aires, Argentina (in English & Spanish) attended by 65 participants from 10 countries INSME-API Training on Supporting the Creation and Development of Innovative Enterprises 5 – 7 December, in Tunis, Tunisia (in French) attended by 40 participants from 4 countries 18

23 2006 INSME Action Plan Aim: increase to 90 Members by the end of 2006 and increase participation from countries outside the European Union and from international organisations such as: UNIDO, CAN, IASP, WAINOVA, the IRC Network and ProTon Europe 23

24 Priorities in 2006 (1) Further assist INSME Members to build timely and stable relationships within the network on a thematic, sectoral and geographical basis Strengthen the connection between the INSME Secretariat and INSME Members (especially Full Members) Persist for the enhancement of Member’s satisfaction by personalising and targeting services (both off line and on line): joining forces and collaborating with other institutions worldwide so as to maximise efforts 24

25 Priorities in 2006 (2) Increase financial income by involving new Members/Sponsors and providing value added services Continue to diversify the INSME network’s three main groups of stakeholders: the creators/providers of knowledge and innovation, those who need/use and take advantage of innovation and the policymakers that affect this field Create Partnerships and alliances with relevant networks and organisations such as TAFTIE, WAITRO and Gate2growth 25

26 INSME Portal Management and Development Reorganisation of contents
The following guidelines will inspire INSME portal management and development in 2006: INSME portal function in 2006: Site to share knowledge and experiences, identify partners and technologies, publicise joint pilot projects and find training courses INSME portal development in 2006: Reorganisation of contents to favour the optimisation of the available resources; Develop the INSME content delivery/distribution tools including the INSME alert service, the INSME newsletter, the INSME Newsreader service and the INSME Content Feed Service; Provision of web-based applications to INSME Members; Enhancement of web marketing activities INSME portal targets for 2006: Increase new unique users by 20% 26

The INSME Content Feed Service allows to feature INSME portal content directly on INSME Members’ websites: Feed services covering headlines for News, Events, Tenders & Calls, Library and Training Programmes Free of charge technical support to implement the service INSME Newsreader allows INSME Member to receive INSME portal news and headlines directly on their desktop: Downloadable INSME customized newsreader Up-to-date INSME portal headlines directly on your desktop Possibility to pre-configure the newsreader with your news and headlines 27

30 On-line service development: web site creation (1)
Web content management system developed for our members: create, modify and delete web content (text, images, graphics, tables etc.), web pages, sections/sub-sections and navigation links; redesign the layout (choosing among a set of standard template) publish it in the quickest and easiest way By logging on to a password-protected administration area (under insme domain), you will access user-friendly,  click-and-command interfaces that will guide you through simple options, allowing you to build a website without needing any html notions 30

Facility to select and apply appropriate page template to the created/edited content A word processor like HTML editor with which you can create and edit the content all the basic editing functionalities (e.g. fonts, size, justification, bold, italics, bullets etc.) and other specific functionalities (e.g. table properties, insert/edit flash movies, html source editing, etc.) Simple workflow administration with 3 levels of admin users: editor - responsible for creating and editing content according to requisites of style and lay out content manager - responsible for releasing the content for use of website visitors administrator - responsible for managing the release of the content placing it into a repository (web server) 31

Check among members the interests and potential use of the service (within the end of 2nd week of May) Identify few partners to launch pilot web site creation service (within the end of May) Start defining functional requirements (June) Develop and implement the service (by July) 33

2nd WIPO-INSME International Training on “The Role of Intellectual Property in Raising Financing Opportunities for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises” WIPO, Geneva, Switzerland, 11 – 12 July, 2006 (Participation for free) INSME - IPI International Training on “Business Start-ups and Access to Finance for SMEs” IPI, Rome, Italy, November 2006 (Tuition fee: €400 for OECD countries, € 250 for non-OECD countries) Participation free for INSME Association Members 34

35 Direct Participation in Calls for Tenders
The INSME Association is already involved as a Partner in the following European proposals to be awarded: The InnoTecNet INNO-Net project for national and regional programmes supporting technology transfer between Europe and other regions of the world (in particular North America and Asia) The CORP-INNOVA project to open European innovation to international views, integrate new trends in innovation and anticipate debates and needs for future innovation policies 35

37 Call for Co-hosting and Co-organisation
INSME 2007 Annual Meeting Call for Co-hosting and Co-organisation As in 2005, this call for collaboration will be made to both INSME Members and Non-Members from all over the globe, although preference will be given to applications from Full Members in the case of indecision between bids of equivalent appeal (see the Guidelines) In-kind Full Membership will be granted to the Co-host for 2007 and proposals must be submitted to the INSME Secretariat by or fax by the 15th of July, according to the Guidelines A decision will be taken by the INSME Board and communicated to INSME Members and Candidates for co-hosting the meeting indicatively by mid-September, The deadline could be postponed if no proposal meets the criteria 37
