More than Academics

2 What is College & Career Readiness?
FLDOE - Students are considered college and career ready when they have the knowledge, skills, and academic preparation (Word) needed to enroll and succeed in introductory college credit-bearing courses within an associate or baccalaureate degree program without the need for remediation.

3 Knowledge Students demonstrate proficiency by achieving passing-level scores in reading, writing and mathematics on the Postsecondary Education Readiness Test or an approved alternative.

4 Skills Effective communication skills
Critical thinking and analytical skills Good time management skills Intellectual curiosity A commitment to learning

5 Academic Preparation To be considered for admission to a degree program in a Florida postsecondary institution all students must, at minimum, possess a standard high school diploma or its equivalent as defined in Florida statutes and State Board of Education rule.

7 Student Needs Execution skills to function in a new, fast paced and ever changing environment Efficacy skills to be able do for themselves Critical skills for college and career success which are not taught in college but expected in the workplace

Hold the Bright Futures scholarship Use Gold Seal at college level to take transferable common 15 credits Use Industrial Certification - articulates to 3 credits at AA level, if used in field Take additional courses for an AA degree and confer within 2 years – entry level work ready Use the Bright Futures to complete 2 years for a Bachelor’s degree
