1 LGMR’s Strategic Plan an Overview

2 The Need: Why Create the Plan?
The board made a decision to create a strategic plan document that articulated the process needed to improve on how we run our club. The following six statements sum up the core or our Strategic Plan:

3 Reach a consensus on our Mission and Guiding Principles,
Develop goals that support our Mission and Principles, Set priorities that work towards common goals, Focus our energy and resources, Establish agreement around intended outcomes/result, and Assess and adjust the direction of our club in the future.

4 What Was Accomplished: A Timeline
The Board Approves Final Document District Visioning Team leads a LGMR Planning Team through a Visioning Session A Sub-Team of the original group creates drafts of our Strategic Plan 2015/2016 Mid 2016 Late 2016

5 Overview: ‘A Look Under the Covers’
Mission Guiding Principles Strategy Committees

6 Our Mission Embracing the principals of Rotary International, the “Cool Cats” of Los Gatos Morning Rotary actively engage the community to support youth, seniors and those in need among us locally, nationally and around the world.

7 Our Guiding Principles
Grow membership by retaining existing and recruiting local leaders, those with a passion for community service, and those whose fellowship will compliment, enhance, and fit in the culture of our club. Retain existing membership through encouraging and promoting engagement in club meetings, community projects, fundraiser, and social events. Emphasize what fits into family and career commitments over rigid attendance rules.

8 Our Guiding Principles (cont’d)
Provide local and international community service that both provides a variety of engagement opportunities for our members while having a strong positive impact on the Los Gatos and global community. Fundraise in a manner that both provides opportunities for our members to participate in a way that is fulfilling and raises adequate funds to support causes that are important to the club and increases our foundation endowment. Support Rotary International and district 5170 programs and initiatives.

10 An Example of How This Looks…
This “Avenue” represents the opportunity that each Rotarian has to represent the dignity and utility of one’s vocation as an opportunity to serve society.  Rotarians promote and foster high ethical standards in business and professions and promote the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations Specific Strategic Goals – Align with Rotary International Avenues of Service for Vocational Service: LGMRC members work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of our local community and beyond. 1. Provide time at Club Meetings during the club year for every member who is actively pursuing a vocation to talk about their vocation, so other members can learn about each member’s vocation 2. Encourage each member to use their professional skills to help serve the community. 3. Encourage each member to assist a young person to achieve his or her career aspirations by inspiring, creating interest and installing confidence in achieving goals. 4. Guide or help others in their professional development

11 The Legacy We’re Creating
Continuity To be able to have a baseline from which to operate year-over-year Flexibility As the club changes and as the priorities of RI change, we have the flexibility to modify our priorities and embed them into a ‘Revised Document’ Knowledge Transfer When changes in leadership occur in either the board or committees, there will be a transfer of knowledge, a ‘Guide Book’ for those to follow.
