2. What is a screencast?
Screencasting is when you record a video of your computer screen, oftentimes for teaching or sharing ideas.

3. Why make a screencast? How many times do you answer the same question?
Make a screencast to show someone how to do something.
Examples-
Steps in a math problem
How to read a map
How to write an essay
What are some other ways you could use a screencast?
What are some ways your students could use/create a screencast?

4. How to make a screencast
There are many programs, but here are two.
On a Mac- Quicktime
On a PC- ScreenCastOMatic

5. ScreenCastOMatic Sign up- it is free.
There is a paid version ($15/yr), but the free one does most everything you will need.
15 minutes per video.
It is web-based. You do not have to download anything to your computer, but there is an option to download.
There are tutorials to show you how to use the features.

6. Click start recording.
A window will open.
Open the Launcher.
Use the computer microphone, or an external microphone.
Everything that is in the frame will record.
You can adjust the size of the frame.

7. You can use a webcam, screen, or both.
The free version only records narration. It does not record the audio from the computer.
Test the mic.
You can pause the recording.

8. YouTube When finished, preview, then click on done.
You can save as a video file, upload to screencast-o-matic, or upload to YouTube.
For YouTube, you will need to log in.
Name your recording.
Give a description.
Select Public, Private, or unlisted.
Category- assign a category.
Private, or unlisted, you give the link to people to access.

9. Upload to Screencast-o-matic
Assign a title
Description
Make a channel
Make it so viewers must enter a password to access the video.
Searchable on Google, or no where.
