2. Origins
New Wave music is sometimes thought as an outgrowth of what was Punk. It was a merge of Punk Rock and it basically reinvents Rock ‘n’ Roll. It became very popular in the 1980s and they got some of their sound from mod subculture, electronic music, disco, and funk. It’s cultural origins resides in the United States and in the United Kingdom.

4. Movies
The New Wave genre spawned a string of hit movies such as ‘The Breakfast Club’ and ‘Pretty in Pink’

5. Fashion
New Wave was associated with deliberate fashion movements were most men wore heavy make up such as eyeliner and blousy shirts. They also started the whole prep era and brought the huge Ray bans glasses and the swatches

6. Blondie
Blondie was an American Rock that started in the scene in the late 1970s. Their first two Albums had elements of New Wave in them and they were really successful in the United Kingdom and Australia. They incorporate different styles such as disco, pop, and Reggae into their New Wave style and were inducted into the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame in Band Members: Debbie Harry, Chris Stein, Clem Burke, Leigh Foxx, Paul Carbonara, Matt Katz-Bohen, and Jimmy Destri

7. Talking Heads
Talking Heads was an American band that formed in the 1970s and stayed very strong in the Their New Wave style consisted of different punk rock, pop, funk, world music, and art rock. They broke up in 1991but reunited briefly at a performance during their induction into the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame in Band members: David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth, and Jerry Harrison
