5 We concern about Industry-institute Linkage for Employers Expectation through Department of Technical Education and Training. The Technical Education system in Sri Lanka has developed through a period of 110 years to a system comprising island wide network of 39 colleges of Technologies and Technical Colleges

6 TVET has addressed below stages to build the above linkage via programs.

8 Patil (cpsc 80/113) suggests that the curriculum should have the following characteristics
It should be relevant to a country’s needs It should be feasible for the working environment It should guide adequately to communicate its intents and purpose clearly. It should guide planning strategies for implementation It should be capable or being used as a basis for improvement

9 Institution industry linkage must strengthen If the curriculum shows working environment
In Sri Lanka TVEC is getting support from industry for curriculum designing Relevant industries are supporting for curriculum designing in various courses.

10 Industry linkage for Educational process
Instructors and Lecturers are getting experience from industry in the teaching learning process Also Students are getting experience in teaching learning process. Students are getting experience from industry during on the job Training period ( six Months) In Sri Lankan context NITA (National Industrial Authority ) involve to obtain on the job training for trainees.

11 Industry Linkage for Employment Opportunities.
Industry Institute linkage is more important when directing students for job opportunities. DTET ( Department of (Technical Education and Training ) made the web page for getting students details industry. In addition to industry directly address Technical Colleges to provide the job opportunities to students. Recently United Arab Emirates planed to get Sri Lankan skilled trainees for their employment opportunities.

12 Transforming Academic Courses to Skills Qualification
TVET institution should transform academic courses to skills qualification to provide the skilled trainees according to industry demand TVEC ( Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission ) Introduce the NVQ courses instead of academic courses based on CBT (competency Based Training ) curriculum These courses accreted by TVEC getting industry requiement

13 Matching Educational Qualification with the Occupational Demand.
The Sri Lankan National Vocational Qualification Framework (NVQSL) has been established to support the efforts in enhancing the development of an internationally competitive workforce in Sri Lanka.

14 Skills data system and employment support
Competency based training’ CBT curriculum and accreditation process provide skill data system for employment support DTET has designed web portal for providing Skill trainees for industry
